Had an email from Jen Gunter this morning (I subscribe) linking to a very useful post, The Ultimate Guide to Cleansing the Vulva which I am happy to recomment to you all.

There's another one called Don't Use Menopause to Excuse Mediocre Men which likewise has much merit.

We did the customary double Easter Egg hunt yesterday.

While waiting for the children and BIL to arrive and commence their hunt, we observed one of the regular crows discover a gold-foil-wrapped mini egg in a small tree, and make off with it.

The children (now all in their 30s) have become quite evil. After completing their hunt in the garden, they hid eggs for us in the house (the weather was looking very dodgy by then). There is, admittedly, much scope for concealing small objects in my house, and they were fiends about it! Tiny fluffy chicks with plastic feet are the best to conceal, for they cling to any orientation. I (eventually) found one perfectly camouflaged on a yellow and pink scarf.

I don't think this tradition is going to die off any time soon!

Egg hunts for adults, or even sharp-eyed children, should provide an appropriate level of challenge. But if you're hiding real eggs, the hiders should keep a list of where. Our rule was that the egg had to be at least partially visible from the ground/floor.

Often we would buy plastic eggs or dye real ones in different colors/styles for each group of egg hunters, with a gold plastic egg for the grand prize that anyone could grab.

Crows can be absolute hardasses. One summer, several of them fought with a great horned owl for the whole season over whose yard it was, and neither side would give an inch.

oh definitely! I remember several egg huts from my childhood where eggs were missed, and discovered weeks/months later. always lots of fun if they were broken in the recovery

One time we found one many months later -- and it rattled. The egg inside the shell had somehow dried out and preserved itself. Fascinating.

oh wow - that would have been so interesting! I believe that pysanky eggs are painted whole, not blown empty, and I bet that happens with those as well

They can be done whole or hollow. The time I did them for Russian class, we used hollow eggs.

Your egg hunts sound excellent. And that was a very devious place to hide a chick!

My two at home are 16 and 22 and we had to have an Easter treasure hunt with written clues because I invented this tradition about 17 years ago.

Happy to say that I only ever wash my vulva with water, and then only when I think it needs it, (which isn't terribly often). Still happily married, so my nearest and dearest clearly has good taste and hasn't bought into strange hype.

Bugs me in buildings, let alone my body.

I react badly to some perfumes, and air fresheners can be a real problem. I sometimes have to leave shops to escape them!

Your yearly egg hunt is such a great tradition. I always enjoy hearing about it. (The fluffy chicken hideout was inspired!) If we have a suitable garden/house we should do something similar at next Camp.
