Someone, somewhere, discovered that if you cover frogs with shellac you can pose them... what kind of a mind, we wonder, first made such a discovery? And, why? But when it's late, and the world is a silly, sparkly place, the discovery of lacquered frogs playing cards is a wonderful thing.

It's actully slightly less disturbing than the similar museum of malformed animals at Bramber, near my childhood home, which included a section of mainly kittens with surplus limbs similarly costumed and posed.

It pretty much does. After you've seen shellacked frogs feasting, playing cards, and apparently enacting a domestic BDSM scenario, you just want to put frogs in varnish, sparkle them up a bit, and make them do the Bye Bye Bye dance. It's a thing.
