It isn't quite true to say that there are no more sparklyfen in my house, there is one besides myself, but
bun18 is still fast asleep, which is No Fun.
There are still sundry mattresses in odd places about the house, and I have acquired a box of parkin and a virgin bottle of Pink Drink (hmm), also there is - amazingly - a portion of sugar death cake (aka Better Than Sex Cake) as yet unconsumed, presumably because my hermit Boy has not noticed it yet. Oh, it was nice to have a houseful of sparkly folk, even if poor
nopseud was suffering and in need of constant hot lemon and honey infusions. We had the beloved familiar footage (PopOdyssey, and dismayed cringeing from
ephemera_pop at the disturbing plushies, and the Simpsons ep, and suchlike) and some new stuff (an interview with Lance in which we discovered that He Has A Lava Lamp, oh dear, oh dearohdearohdear, and a vehicle of such vastness that part of the interview took place quite comfortably in the back of said vehicle).
And I am now entirely convinced that 'A Knight's Tale' should be remade with sparkly cast. Who could disagree? Imagine the scene - 'Sir' Justin (Ulric), Joey (Roland) and Chris (Wat) encounter a stark naked JC ('Jeff' Chaucer, even!)... actually, it's possible nobody would ever watch as far as the scene in which they meet Lance the beautiful blacksmith, or Sir Kevin the Terrible (Adhemar), or Prince Brian (Edward!), or even the beauteous Lady Alex (ahem, Jocelyn) in a succession of silly hats.
You already know (more than you wanted to know) about the lacquered frogs.
And there are new story ideas. Sick and disturbing, mostly, but whatever. These people are a Bad Influence!
So, um. We wanna do a sparkly euro mini-con, quite possibly in November. Think of it - a houseful of sparkly fen from the UK and beyond, getting together to squee and talk about this stuff, and watch the sparkly in an atmosphere of love, far from the outside world... A bit more structured than a come-to-my-house-for-squee weekend, we're thinking of working out some panel discussions, that kind of thing. I believe
nopseud (when she recovers from the plague) and I are going to try and communicate this stuff through
sparklyukfans, which has been dormant for a while. But, if you are enraptured by the thought, join that little community - you can help with the planning! Oh, and tell folks.
