Confoosled
May. 31st, 2006 12:49 pmLJ-induced rage! I managed to click on a 'mystyle' entry at some point in my browsing this morning, and for reasons I don't understand this transformed my LJ layout to Generator in dark blues, black and white. Deep frustration! Mercifully I had kept a list of the colours I chose for this set-up, but argh!
Thinks: I wonder if it is time to make another pathetic attempt to make a pretty layout? Can I bear the pain?
Also, it is time to prune my userpics. Woe.

Date: 2006-06-05 09:02 pm (UTC)PS None of your posts after the Victorian icon one is showing up on my flist for some reason. Have you maybe made a post dated on another date than the day you made it without checking the little tickybox "Entry backdated" (or whatever it says exactly)? Despite the silly wording you have to check that even when you date something in the future, if you don't none of the posts you make after that will show up on your friends' flists until that date has passed. I don't really know why, but that's the way it's set up according to the FAQ.

Date: 2006-06-06 10:10 am (UTC)As you can see I have done some redecorating of my own, but it would be wonderful to have a header and possibly background wallpaper in peachyness with a bit of red and orange, featuring the Adored One, of course. Ooh. Maybe you can teach me how to make use of my sidebar, as I would very much like to be able to put stuff into it - quick links to things like my fanfic100 table, also my tags.
(Meanwhile, must make small adjustment so that names are not invisible. Hmm.)
Ah - you're quite right about the post dated on another day, I had to do a Dragon post so I could sort out the feedback links on the web pages, hadn't realised it would hide my subsequent posts. Not that there was much in those posts of any great moment, fortunately.
Dragons today! Squee! Go read!

Date: 2006-06-06 12:45 pm (UTC)First, adding links to the sidebar is very simple, start by reading this FAQ - it has links to the relevant pages too.
Second, what kind of layout appeals to you? A basic one with a banner added (and perhaps a background too) like this one, the "floating boxes" style like this and this, or the way my journal looks now?
Third, I think it's idiotic that they call that feature "backdating". It makes people think that you should only use it when dating something in the past.
Fourth, now I'm going to read dragon stories!!!!!

Date: 2006-06-06 09:20 pm (UTC)I loved the abstract background you did with the Kevin layout, more than the tiling of pictures in the bluesy one. At the moment I'm quite taken with these new colours (though the red may well change to something a little darker in a day or so) and I have Lance-and-peaches in my head (have you found that ficlet?), so if that inspires you, it'd probably make me a very happy bunny!
I will also investigate that link about the sidebar. I'm sure it's a mental block rather than total inability to do this stuff that's prevented me having a go...
And thank you for the happy birthday wishes. It's been a good one.

Date: 2006-06-07 11:28 am (UTC)So, an abstract-y background, a banner of the Adored One, and the colour scheme something like the one you're using now. Check. And your tags in the sidebar. Check. Do you want to keep your navigational links in the header, or move them to the sidebar and just keep the journal title there like in

Date: 2006-06-07 12:58 pm (UTC)Well. *squeak!* I think, links in the sidebar and just the journal title up top. And, having just left a comment in your LJ, I do rather like the quickreply box function, so yes please!
