Sep. 14th, 2006 03:14 pmA drive-by posting as I have Far Too Much To Do, just to mention that anyone doing the
onceuponaremix challenge who wants an appropriate icon, could do a lot worse than check out this post for a collection of fairytale-themed icons.

Date: 2006-09-15 09:44 pm (UTC)I'm nearly through the worst... we did the first performance of our concert this evening, it went quite nicely and we had a reasonable house - which was a relief! The flat I've been helping clear is nearly empty, and Bun will be going back to university in the coming week, and I shall in theory have a bit more time for other stuff. Like getting ready for Christmas...

Getting ready for Christmas?!?!?!?! It's only the middle of September, don't scare me like that!

Date: 2006-09-15 11:08 pm (UTC)We're doing a couple of concerts to show off what we've learned over the summer, singing on Thursdays (while we had no actual show in rehearsal). There are really juicy multi-part arrangements of "I got rhythm" and "Autumn Leaves" (I love this one!), a couple of songs from 'Fiddler on the Roof' (though if I never have to sing "Sunrise, Sunset" again I really won't mind), a couple of numbers from operas ("Brindisi", in Italian - urk). The first half of the show is interspersed with solo items, sketches and readings. The second half concentrates on numbers from operetta (and I get to sing Orlovsky in "Brother Mine" which I like very much). It's quite fun, a lot more so with an audience than in rehearsal. We offered tickets to a couple of different charities for this evening's performance - they got the proceeds, we got a new audience - and mercifully, we did seem to end up with a respectably full hall. Tomorrow's performance is purely for us, if we're lucking we'll about break even on the summer, as we do have to pay our pianist.
Christmas! I've already received at least half a dozen charity catalogues. I make a lot of my own Christmas cards, so I do really need to get out into the conservatory and do a bit of painting soon. And maybe I'll get to another craft fair, and sell some of it. Hmm.
So, gotta think about Christmas. Though presents-wise, I'll probably send everyone food again, except the children.
