Pitiful ramblings. Cheese.
Sep. 23rd, 2006 03:18 pmThere is cheese in my kitchen, but I think it doesn't intend to stay there. It's called Epoisses, it's an 'appellation controlee' cheese (!) and it's alive...
My Beast had better eat it soon, is all.
Well. We took Bun to her flat in Bristol yesterday. It's palatial and sordid, which is probably quite good as most student lodgings are just sordid. It's also in what looks a very pretty residential area, reminded me a bit of where I used to live in Chiswick, so, quite reassuring to the parental heart. Her shiny, *bright* yellow bedroom is bigger than our bedroom here, and - once we'd replaced the broken slats in the bed, shoved a plank under the wardrobe so that the doors stay closed, and got rid of the fishing net, paddle, unwanted keyboards, scanner and bag of polystyrene peanuts - quite nice. Pampered brat was supplied with new bedlinen and duvet (well, it's a double, you see, obviously a mere single duvet would be unacceptable) and a router so that when she gets the internet connection organised, there's a way for the four of them to share it. So spoilt, really. Oh well. It's nice to buy her stuff. On a more practical level, I managed to get the toilet clean, and have supplied a How To Clean The Bathroom list. Wonder whether she's lost it yet.
Boy and I have just finished the DVDs of Veronica Mars, season 2. Hmm. Not as coherent as the first season, or as satisfying, but so prettily shot, it's just gorgeous. Now I have West Wing 7, and (gibber) three seasons of the totally-addictive-so-I'm-staying-away-from-it 24. Hmm. Well, not so many more Thursday rehearsals for me, now. Then again, I really need to work on what I'm going to do with the next show.
Am starting to ramble pitifully now. Will stop.

Date: 2006-09-23 05:31 pm (UTC)That was an umh... eclectic mix of things you removed from Bun's room. I wonder what kind of person lived there before!

Date: 2006-09-23 09:42 pm (UTC)Eclectic, a good word. The person who lived there before was... a student. This probably explains everything except the polystyrene peanuts.

Would it be too much trouble to hold off another day in collecting The Object? Neither my dad or I are feeling particularly well (he seems to be coming down with whatever it is I've had) and I think another day of rest might do us both good.
(If you're impatient for it, I understand, it's just I think we're more likely to be feeling social tomorrow, and I'd like to be able to be social rather than just grunt and thrust a collection of hardware bits at you. :) )

Date: 2006-09-23 06:42 pm (UTC)The flat sounds very nice, and I'm sure it will be a great place to live.
A fishing net? Wonder what the purpose in that was. If it was I, I'd use it as a hanging storage area, but you never can tell. :)

Date: 2006-09-23 10:15 pm (UTC)I'm not a college student, and have never been, but I'm sure that there was probably something useful that it was used for, like snatching hats from pedestrians. lol

Date: 2006-09-24 12:33 am (UTC)|J and I went to A&H's for dinner on Monday, and as we were leaving J slipped Alex the first disc of the [number goes here] season, much to Heather's dismay :D
And happy new hoe to the Bun - it sounds as though you've got her well settled.
