On dragons

I'm thinking, perhaps I should re-think this year's Dragon (and Dwarf!) Challenge. My intention was to open signups on St George's Day (Monday), and have the stories submitted in time to reveal them on D-Day (6th June, and my birthday). But, with the Happyfic Challenge so nicely in progress, as well as the Remix deadline in early May, is that going to mean there are Just Too Many Challenges going on at once?
A feasible alternative seems to be that I open signups on June 6th, with a submission deadline sometime at the end of July. Dear flist, would you be more likely to write a Dragon and/or Dwarf story with that timetable? Or should I stick with the original plan?

Date: 2007-04-20 02:15 pm (UTC)Happyfic stories are being posted almost a month after the deadline for dragons, I know a lot of people who write challenge stories the day before. A month is a luxury.

Date: 2007-04-21 03:48 pm (UTC)What's you feeling on using a WIP for your challenge? I have one that I've posted early chapters of and then pulled them down because I needed to start over. It centers on a dragon, and having a deadline would force me to go back and finish it. But anyone who read my early chapters of heard my whine about it would know I wrote it, and I know you like the stories anonymous at first.

Date: 2007-04-21 09:10 pm (UTC)I'm perfectly happy to have a WIP - I know very well that it's a lot easier to get down to the business of working on a story when there is a deadline, so I have every sympathy. I'm sure people can keep it to themselves if they *know* who wrote a story - I like the 'anonymous feedback' aspect of challenges with an author reveal, though it isn't a crucial matter. Oh, I'm going to develop a more satisfactory method of sending feedback this year. So, yes, as far as I'm concerned, your WIP is very welcome.
