pensnest: bright-eyed baby me (Rome)

I hate shoe shopping.

Lest you think me unfeminine I will qualify that. I love shoes, naturally, and deserve many pairs. But my feet are size 8 (42 European, no idea what that translates to in US sizing). Shopping for shoes would be a lot less frustrating were I, say, a size 5.

However, I walked into a shoe shop on Wednesday morning and pulled a pair of sandals off the Sale shelf and, omg, bought them. First pair tried. This *never* happens. I live in hope that I have found sandals which will not bite my feet - obviously this is a vain hope, as sandals are always vicious, but you never know. I have a month to figure out which footwear to take to Disneyworld.

On that same Wednesday morning, my Boy had to get himself to his course in London for 10am, extra fun, naturally, with the tube strike. I was very pleased with him - we worked out a route for him the night before, which involved going to two stations he'd never been to before, and he did not balk at all. It may seem a little thing to parents of non-AS kids, but for mine, it's definite progress, because he does not like changes to his routine and does not like to have to do unfamiliar things. He managed the various bits of transport - they had a trip to the Science Museum so he wasn't even coming home via the usual route - without any problems.

Also, I found out how to take screencaps (sorta) from DVDs, hah. Mild obsession with making 'Rome' icons.

Today, I *shall* finish Britpicking that HP story. I am determined.

As someone who is now on month eleven of plantar fasciitis due partly to walking around Disney World in crappy shoes, take my advice and wear good shoes with lots of support. Like, running shoes. Everyone at Disney looks like a dork, so don't worry about looking like one, too. Good shoes.

And yay for the Boy.

Yay for shoes!!! Hopefully they will turn out to be comfortable too! I don't have your size problem when buying shoes but my feet do have an unfashionable shape (very square) and I'm also Very Picky and demand that any shoe I buy must be COMFORTABLE so I think the end result is pretty much the same = no pretty shoes for me :-)

As a size 9 I sympathise with your shoe trauma. I tend to find a pair that I like and just keep buying another pair the same when they fall apart!
May I ask how you're taking the screencaps? I am currently identifying scenes to cap for my next project, but my current capping process is a bit of a pain - maybe your way is easier?

I tried vlc but I had trouble pausing in the place I wanted. I'm now using powerdvd which has the ability to advance by frame which is working pretty well for me.
My walls are looking really bare since I redecorated so I am taking caps of landscapes and interesting buildings from supernatural - hoping to get a few suitable for framing!

My reflexes are too slow to do it your way - I end up going back and forwards over and over and never getting the cap I want.
I have so many scenes already and I have barely started season 2 - thining them down is going to be a real problem!

I hate buying shoes too, so I sympathise.

How's the boy getting on with travel? Still okay?
