Despite being away from my desk, I managed to catch the coat-tails of the recent icon meme, thus:
1. reply to this post, and I will pick 7 of your icons.
2. then make a post (include the meme info), and talk about the icons I chose.
3. other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. this will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. whoo!
turloughishere asked me to talk about these. So.
This is probably the oldest of my current icons. I don't think to use it much, and truly, I ought to amend it a bit as that text is rather too close together. Um. Can't actually remember why I created it, probably in order to comment to a particular post, but it's lost in the mists of time, now. Anyway, I'm a big fan of sloth.
This one's quite new. No particular reason for it, just a sudden inspiration, coupled with the fact that sometimes, a person just has to BURST INTO SPARKLE.
Made by
martoufmarty, this is something I found when prowling through
icons or some such place. The Daleks were my favourite Dr Who villains, when I was a child, and it just appealed to me. Doesn't get many outings, though.
Lance Fabulous, a much loved and Very Useful icon, which I made for a challenge ages ago. I like to use it to comment on good news posts.
Sometimes I put up an icon giveaway post and then realise I love one of the icons and must use it myself. This one... it's the combination of his smart suit and his evil-overlord-in-training smirk, it just looks like a Lance with Plans. I'm rather fond of it!
This one has managed to stay in my JC roster since I made it. Another challenge entry, of course - I just thought it looked as though he was controlling some kind of space pod, and played around with a background and some effects. I'm pleased with the way the text worked out, too. And it is, on occasion, the *perfect* icon to use - when commenting on
flambeau's JC-in-Atlantis stories, for instance.
Spot the Lava Lamp! In theory, I can swap this out for any of the other lava lamp icons, but I love his innocent/evil expression so much I don't think I can bear to use a different one. Lance's expression is such a delight.
I have a vague notion that I'm supposed to explain how I use icons - or is that some other meme? Anyway. I have various criteria - sometimes, I'll use an icon that is a reply to the one in the post/comment I'm answering, or that features an appropriate sparkly boy/pairing. Sometimes, I try to get the mood right with the icon; sometimes I'll just post with an icon of the recipient's favourite. Sometimes, it's a reflection of my own mood in that moment. I like it when I have an icon that is appropriate to the post, but nobody has enough icons to be specific for everything!
Anyone want me to pick yours?

Date: 2007-10-18 08:45 pm (UTC)I can never be properly scared of the Daleks, they're just too endearlingly awkward and "pepperpot-y".
