I have one perm (this one) one paid for (_pop, by the generosity of others, and about five basic, one of which (-tales) was paid for a very long time and will be again if I keep it.

I know quite a few people have more than one account - I'd been thinking about perhaps having another, but won't bother if I can't get a Basic one any more. I was just interested to see how many of the people I like to read still have a Basic account.

If you use add-block with firefox, you don't see most of them. ^_^

I rarely remember to use Firefox, though I think I have ad-block operating when I do. Generally I browse in Safari. I just wondered what exactly the objectionable ad content *is*, since as a paid user I don't see it... but it looks as though my friends are a socially responsible bunch who pay LJ!

I payed for LJ when I a) had a job, b) was fanishly active, and c) before this recent round of BS started. Since, I've decided I'd rather give someone else my $20 a year.

As a paid user, I didn't see adds on my LJ, on my flist, or on basic accounts, but I did see them on the LJ pages of ppl who had the plus accounts, hence the add-block. And since my default browser on any OS is firefox, I'm set.

If that changes, I'll definitely be using Firefox more.

I have two permanent accounts, some communities, and, um...some small number of basic accounts which I don't use but which are sat around. I'm not sure how many. There's nopsued, for one, to catch the frequent mis-spellings of my username, plus I have a few more names saved up.

That's smart, having 'nopsued', because I've noticed that it does actually show as a username! I sorta assumed some people would have more than two accounts, and my expectation that second accounts would mostly be Basic has been borne out. I'm quite surprised how many of my flist have paid/permanent accounts, but a lot of people have been here quite a while, so it seems reasonable.

Interestingly (well, for certain flavours of interesting) I created a Basic community yesterday, which was still possible. Hmm.

And wow, I had an idea the poll results would end up like that, but it's an even stronger trend than I thought.

Also re basic communities - register all the names you could ever want *right now*, because I suspect they're going to disappear soon, too.

I'm pretty sure you're right about the Basic communities... woe. I really *don't* like ads. I'm going to have to start using Firefox when that happens.

Firefox is pretty neat for stuff like that - but the problem is that whenever I'd surf at work/uni/a friend's place without my custom-made browser I'd still see the ads. Grr.
