Mar. 8th, 2011 01:35 pmI'm having 'A bit of a do' today, in response to an Oxfam thingy that came through my door a month or so ago asking people do fundraise in support of women around the world. It's not on a big scale, just tea and coffee at my house until 4pm, with a bunch of my cards, painted items etc and some hand-made jewellery donated by a friend, for purchase-by-donation.
At ten to ten this morning, I thought I'd better get the teapot hottened in case there was an early caller, so I put the kettle on.
It didn't work.
Augh!
Beast promptly set off into town to purchase a new kettle, and I put a saucepan of water on the stove, which was just as well as my first customer showed up on the dot of ten!
Really, the malevolence of inanimate objects does pick its moments.
Still, Beast returned with new kettle before the main influx, and I have upwards of eighty pounds in the donation pot. And my stock of cards is much reduced!
