Sep. 11th, 2014 10:44 pmWe've just spent a couple of days looking at houses in Norwich. And I fell in love with this one, which is described as a semi-detached house. Well, yeah, that is strictly true, except that what it is semi-detached from is a mighty, three-storey mansion.
The house is *beautiful*. The lounge made me gasp. (That there in the middle is a little turret with a windowed peak.) Alas that it is (a) a Listed building, which means that (b) the windows cannot be double glazed without a great deal of pain and expense (and it is already somewhat above our price bracket), and (c) the *immense* back garden is a flat plain with a river at the bottom, so that after a particularly damp spell one might reasonably expect to be wading in the kitchen. Also, (d) it's not really in the right part of town.
But it's *beautiful*.
*sniff*
