pensnest: Drawing of Victorian woman, caption Oh my (Victorian Oh My)
There is an iteration of that icon meme going around where you ask people about userpics that interest you..

[personal profile] rydra_wong asked about these.

Cosmo Brown

I suppose this one ties into my sidekick kink, in that I was never anywhere near as interested in Don Lockwood as in Cosmo Brown. Who was, besides, far more My Type, being not at all the Hollywood Handsome kind of guy. Donald O'Connor was awesome. Years later I was delighted to see him in 'Out to Sea', a film I only acquired because Brent Spiner was in it. Though Mr O'Connor did not have nearly enough dancing to do.

Anyway. [personal profile] turlough made this, and it captures an indefinably wonderful expression of readiness/gotcha/glee/something that I love.

Silver is having thoughts about the situ

I've become acquainted fairly recently with the awesomeness that is Black Sails, and this is one of the many icons I found when I went looking. It seems to capture the ambiguous-ness (not the ambiguity!) of the character, and I don't use it often, probably because I don't make smart enough posts.

Alan Cumming Bed?

Ah, my kinky crush. I made a batch of Alan Cumming icons, because I adore the man's wicked, mischievous face, and had to keep a couple of them.

If you'd like to play, comment with Shiny! and I'll pick three of yours for you to tell me about.

In other news, there is an awesome Twitter thread here in which Dr Leah Broad matches composers with their identity in biscuit form. Has to be tasted seen to be enjoyed.
pensnest: knitted sweater close up, caption: it's all in the details (Knitting details)
When I saw this sweater on Jake Gyllenhaal, on Tom & Lorenzo's site, I thought ooh, hmm, interesting, I wouldn't mind knitting a sweater with those wonky stripes. Opinion on the site, however, is hostile.

It looks like garter stitch (or might be stocking stitch) in that green yarn with stocking stitch in blue with some extra wraparounds to uneven the stripes. And a bit crap around the neck, but that could be amended. I think a rather quieter yarn would probably be better, too, as the shiny doesn't seem to be necessary given the interest generated by the weird stripes.

What do you think? Would you knit such a thing?
pensnest: Cartoon Mr Darcy, text is "you must allow me to tell you how ardently i admire and love you (Mr Darcy ardently admires and loves you)
Minor internet coincidence: I used one of my (awesome) Pride & Prejudice icons (actually this one) made by Red Scharlach on LJ and the recipient of the comment mentioned how awesome the icon was. Because it was.

For some reason I cannot remember, I was just this evening checking through the comments to my one and only HP fic on, would you believe, fanfiction.net, and found there a comment from Red Scharlach.

Tomorrow, I am going to have lunch with someone I was at school with. I'm not sure I can say, 'was friends with at school', but it should be interesting, at any rate. Well, we're going to The Belgian Monk, so there will be raspberry beer.

Sable seems to have literally twice as much fur packed onto her tiny body as Fluffy does. She would make excellent gloves.
