A question for you!

I had a very agreeable morning painting, a couple of mugs which looked, though I say it myself, fabulous when I had finished them. I hope they are fabulous when they've been cooked!

Have so far just one entrant for my Popslash Treasure Hunt, come on, people, there must be some of you out there who need to procrastinate!

A little thought for you.



Character number one is incredibly beautiful, big sea-blue eyes, naturally wavy dark hair, slim and agile. Incredible natural talent as a singer, dancer, composer... picked up by a really big company and ended up on a tv show from the *very first audition* ever attended.

Or, how about this character: again with the beauty, bright blue eyes, naturally curly hair. Enormous charisma and charm, obviously destined for fame practically from the womb, a talented singer, dancer, songwriter, hardly ever seems to put a foot wrong, works with the most amazing people, hugely successful.

So, who's the bigger Mary Sue, JC or Justin?

Well, then, of course, there's Lance, the ordinary one who is Secretly Awesome, and plucked from obscurity to take his rightful place in the group. A 'duckling' who gradually became a swan, with beautiful green eyes this time...

It depends, which one has magical powers, is a better vampire than you'll ever be, or has eyes that change with their mood? These are important qualities in a Mary Sue.

Oh, they could also have a Special Pet that communicates with them secretly. Or be psychic (if that counts as magical powers?). However, I am going to go with JC, because he's more of an outsider and has secret communiques with aliens/robots. Does turning girls into lesbians count as a super power?

JC of course is Always Overlooked in favour of Justin, so that works for the kind of Mary Sue who is Cruelly Treated by heartless and unperceptive folk, but who Will, In Time, Emerge Triumphant.

EXACTLY. See, Justin is Regina George, and JC is Lindsay Lohan. Heh.

Feh! They aren't even trying! Cameron Diaz is a far bigger Mary Sue than either of them. She not only was cast as the female lead in a major film in her first film role, aged 21, but she was only looking for acting work at all because she'd just given up her previous career as an international model. Also, she has the interesting family background of the classic Sue (Cuban-American father, Anglo-German mother). JC and Justin *wish* they could Sue with her style.

I admit that JC gets a bonus for being adopted. Sadly, though, he'd have to be an orphan for it to score maximum points.

I can never forget it! In fact, it is a thought that brings happiness into my life more or less every time I think of Justin!
