Well, it was the First Night tonight, and seems to have gone pretty well. I was down at the theatre selling programmes, briefly lending a hand doing the waitressing duty, and then sitting in the pit in case anybody needed a prompt (they didn't). Performance went off very nicely—not flawless, as my three lumberers still haven't figured out how to walk in a 2-step square, and the curtain call number saw the chorus singing their bit several bars too early, but never mind. Looked very pretty, and the audience enjoyed it.

It's nearly over! I probably want to spend a bit of time doing Something Creative to give the chorus members as a reminder, but I'll start thinking about that tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Beast has managed to acquire a cold from somewhere. :-( And my middle muscles are still grumbling after yesterday's abs class, which involved weights and was spectacularly evil!

Three entries now, for my popslash treasure hunt. It is a very neat way of discovering and rediscovering stories! You should all do this. I have spoken.

I am feeling All Proud Of Myself, because my show works. Admittedly, that's mostly because of (a) Gilbert being a genius, (b) Sullivan also being a genius, and (c) having had the good luck to acquire a number of people with genuine comic acting ability as my principals.

But hey. I'm the director. I get the credit. Hee.

Hence, being stern and making decrees. Do you think it will work on LJ?

Congratulations to a good First Night!! Good to hear that everything (mostly) went well. I don't remember, have you done directing work before?

I hope your Beast keeps his cold to himself :-)

I directed 'HMS Pinafore' a couple of years ago (my first 'book' musical) and co-directed 'The Wizard of Oz' a while back, and have been in charge of a few revues, so I'm not a beginner any more :-)

I dragged Beast (and his brother) along to see the show this evening. Poor dear managed not to sneeze too obtrusively. And even enjoyed it!
