OH MY GOD PEN. Did you attempt to watch the "music video" they linked to? It was too tedious and stupid to get through! Why would anybody think that slowing Britney's songs to a Twin Peaks pace would get people interested in them? The writer/director should have done some research into online Bitsy fanworks -- all of the slowed-down, acoustic versions of her songs and the fanvids and whatnot -- because they are so much more effective!
Failed attempt or not, it's still fascinating, though -- thank you for linking to it!
No, no, I made no attempt to investigate the, er, artistic side of it. I was just, well, in a blinking state, as a result of the whole concept, I think! Can't really decide whether it's awesome or horrendous. But she has led a rather operatic life...
The result: a distillation of Spears' music videos and public meltdowns that forces viewers to take a second look at both pop-star lives and the way the public devours them.
I can't help but wonder if there are better, um... characters... that would get that theme across. That article kind of makes it sound like the author is a Brit fan with too much time and money on her hands, if I may say. Definitely interesting, though....
I know right? Like Brangelina, or what was the other one? It is a very interesting concept, with lots of potential for social commentary, but that title by itself makes me anticipate some kind of crazy badfic brought to the stage. :P But I don't like judging books by their cover, so...
Thanks for posting that community, by the way! I shall be frequenting it!
