pensnest: Lance Bass and Adam Lambert in black and white (Adam and Lance)
[personal profile] pensnest
Someone posted a link to Nifty (I will refrain, for the sake of your sanitys*), and I thought, oh, why not, and looked for some Adam/Lance fics. I found one—they don't have what I'd honestly call an 'indexing' system, but one was actually called Adam and Lance, so okay—and, not at all to my surprise had to stop after about a paragraph on grounds of extreme pain.

Sigh. And they say fanfiction.net is a Pit of Voles.

* My Beast installed the OS upgrade and my birthday present (Adobe CS5) while I was out at the humungous 4+ hours rehearsal yesterday. Unusually, I'm composing this in TextEdit rather than straight into my journal, and I notice that my computer now feels entitled not merely to underline dubious spellings but to correct them. Hah. It believes I should write 'sanitise' instead of 'sanitys' and 'fiches' instead of 'fics'. It knows best, even when I have re-corrected... okay, I am going to *have* to find a way to turn that off before I burst a blood vessel.

And come to think of it, even 'sanitise' is a pain, because previously I was set up for American spelling, the better to manage my US-set stories, and now it has (for the first time *ever*) decided that it will run British spellchecking. Gah. There has to be a global override for this. Also WTF are those weird icons on the top right of my screen? *gibbers*

Will it accept "sanities"?

(don't mind me, I'm just the local word freak)

Nifty, so much insane badfic with the worst indexing system ever. Finding what you want there is like being blindfolded and sticking a pin in a board.

Unless you're in the mood for weeping cocks, avalanches of man fat and sickly pet names, I doubt it.

avalanches of man fat

Possibly four of the most horrifying words in the English language!

Oh come on, JM. You know you want to read it. AJ lying there, avalanches of man fat hitting his prone, naked, body.

I can't help but wonder, *is* there anything there that I want?

DUDE. 'Cosmic Companions' is on Nifty!

But, honestly, probably not. I sampled a fair amount of Nifty RPS at random one day, and I didn't find a single one which was even readable, never mind actually good. Semi-literate was probably about as good as it got.

I gave up on Nifty completely ages ago, because I decided I probably should hang on to my few remaining brain cells; guess it's good to know that I'm not missing any gems *g*

Nifty sucks, lol. Ok, there ARE some good stories on there but I've not run into any that are popslash. And they are damn hard to find, and really, is it worth wading through all the crap for one good story? I dunno. I'd like to say yeah, but I'm afraid I dont have the patience for it.
