Jul. 12th, 2010 03:08 pmIn a rarely-precedented fit of housewifeliness, I hoovered downstairs today.
The hoover* emitted smoke.
Hmm.
In other news, now that I haz a iPhone, what apps do I need? Tell, pray tell.
* actually it's an Electrolux but who cares

iPhone Apps
Date: 2010-07-12 03:16 pm (UTC)Echofon is great for Twitter, to which I'm addicted.
Stanza, for access to free books (out of copyright) and to buy others, although I find ebooks ridiculously pricey. Very readable format.
Weatherbug or Weather Underground is better than the stock weather app.
Wikipedia app is not bad.
Tonepad is adorable.
The Google app is great for voice searches, otherwise don't bother.
Paid app, Hipstamatic is lovely, it takes weathered 70s photos.
I haven't looked up from mine since October!

Not a fun thing.... Or did you just have THAT much stuff that had to be hoovered? ;-)

Date: 2010-07-12 03:02 pm (UTC)Welcome to iPhone ownerdom! You should get PingChat! 2 which will allow you to text people with iPhones for free. :D
Hipstamatic is an awesome and fun camera app. Shazam will recognize songs off the radio! IMDB is, well, IMDB. iBooks is really cool, you can add PDF files (of course the font needs to be huge in order to actually see it, but still) to it -> fic on your iPhone!
Plus of course you must get the lightsaber so you can join the battles at Camp. :D

Date: 2010-07-12 03:30 pm (UTC)I second Noora's recs of the lightsaber and Ping (OMG YAY TALKING) and Hipstamatic. Stanza is my favourite app for reading on the iPhone, and you can download free texts from Project Gutenberg (and some not-so-official catalogues, ahem). Wikipedia is handy when you need to solve arguments. File Viewer is a paid app that I use to read fic on, it works best if you save fic in Word docs, because then the app eliminates those pesky huge margins that you get when you view PDFs.
I also have a vuvuzela app (BECAUSE I WANT ONE OMG), and there's a free drums app called DigiLite where you play a drumset on your phone. There's lots of free and fun apps, I downloaded a whole ton of them and then it took me a few weeks to cull which ones I wasn't that enthusiastic about.

Date: 2010-07-12 03:37 pm (UTC)Seriously though it won't work for me anymore, which sucks because it was so awesome when it did work. And no, it doesn't have anything to do with the iOS4 because it started malfunctioning even before that :(

Date: 2010-07-12 03:15 pm (UTC)Okay, calming down. Seriously, though. Get the Angry Birds game. You will become seriously addicted. You will also laugh because it is a hilarious game!
