Drills, etc
Oct. 3rd, 2011 03:32 pmThere is a drill in the space at the bottom of my garden where a house and garden used to be. It is quite large. It has been drilling deep holes for several days, and makes a howling noise like distant wind.

This one gives a better idea of the scale. I probably took it from my son's bedroom window.

Hmm.
In other news, I got another postcard! This one has a picture of a very handsome house, specifically, George W Vanderbilt's Biltmore Estate. If it were in this country, I should describe it as a Stately Home. Sadly, it is described as a 'chateaux' in the printed text on the postcard. Thank you, mysterious postcard-sender whose signature I cannot decipher! :-D

Date: 2011-10-03 04:54 pm (UTC)I'm not sure I'd call the Biltmore a chateaux. I'd call it a damn big house. 101 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms. And the Vanderbilts had five mastiffs, which had free reign of the place. It's a wonder they didn't lose them.
You're welcome!
