A quick reminder that if anyone guesses correctly which story (yes, just the one) I wrote this year, you can have a ficlet. Guesses to THIS POST. I've only had one attempt so far, but sorry, [livejournal.com profile] brandywine28, I'm flattered, but that wasn't mine! (I replied to your comment but I'm not sure if you were able to see it...) A teeny tiny clue: it's among the ones I've mentioned in my round-up posts—just in case you were assuming I wouldn't post about what I'd written, and it'd therefore have to be among the non-Trickyfish Nsync stories. Heh.

Brandywine is the only person who guessed on my guessing post (and I was offering to write for even incorrect guesses). I am amazed? dismayed? by the quietness of the MtYG gang this year.

:( It is rather disheartening isn't it? I was (quite selfishly) hoping on a fair bit of MtYG squee to get me through the past week or so but alas.

I always thought it added to the cheer to go to the members page of mtyg_discuss and scroll along and look at the happy recipients and their chatter.

And then this year, it's like not only are there no rec posts, there's also very little in the way of people being happy with their fic. (Unless the posts are locked?)

Maybe people know I'm a nosy mod and they're locking me out...

I'd almost wish the latter were true because at least that meant people were squeeing somewhere but I seriously doubt it. And yeah, I miss the happy rec posts (especially since I can't possibly read everything again and I need people to point me towards the Kevin *g*) and just the, well, happy: period. It's like people somehow simply can't be bothered this year and it both saddens and surprises me. :(

There was more Kevin this year, but I think you've already read the two I would most tell you to read. Hmm... I should look back through my notes...

No. You've definitely read the two you shouldn't have missed.

I sort of want to do a rec post, but I also feel weird about it as someone who know who wrote several of the stories.

Ah that's good to know! <3 And I did go back to read 'the Hidden Purl' because [livejournal.com profile] strippedhalo mentioned 'awesome Kevin' on the members page of the community and I cannot miss out on that, obviously. ;-)

I do totally get the weirdness - which is why I hardly ever rec anyone or anything - regarding the recs even though I'm sure no one would think you'd recommended stories based on anything other than the merits of said stories. Also, I think the Reader's Guide alone is already a very awesome thing to do! <3

That did have awesome Kevin. But it wasn't _all_ about the awesome Kevin, so it didn't make my "Ullman must read" list.

<3 You have strict criteria for my must read list. ;-) I think it's the lack of Kevin all year long that makes me a little easy come MtYG: I'm all over teh Kevin, heh

Ooh there's actually one there I haven't read yet. Thanks so much: I'll definitely be checking out 'Pirate Boys in Space' asap. :-)

And 'Give it a spin' was written all for me! <3

I'll keep that in mind for next time.

I'm assuming you read all the ones listed as a Kevin pairing?

...But I don't know if you're an AU fan or not.

I'll admit to not having finished one or two with him paired with someone because the stories didn't work for me at the time. Let's just say I'm all over the awesome!Kevin? Or something like that. *blushes*

And AUs work just fine for me. Except it has to be a particularly convincing AU if it's of the non-realistic kind. I'm rather partial to things along the line of 'Kevin as a dance teacher'. :-)

And the Kevin at the end of the Spanish tutor one is nice. But he's definitely an epilogue. Not the main focus. But I like him.

My brain must have been on vacation earlier. There are 4 fics that I thought should be on your list...I forgot which had been written for you and what was the declared pairing of another.

You've probably read them all.

Switchback
Coming Back, Again
Bone's Bar & Grill
The one written for you

Then the Hidden Purl has some good Kevin moments.
Pirate Boys in Space has a lot of Kevin but it's not the easiest read and not the sort of AU that I think you like.
The Kevin bookstore one is not actually all that Keviny. More ensemble.

Why do I feel like I'm still missing one?

(Pen, sorry for hijacking your post!)

You know me too well, I started reading 'Pirate Boys in Space' (even though the title already implied it wasn't quite my cup of tea *g*) after Pen mentioned the Kevin, but it's not for me unfortunately.

I've just realised I haven't even made a post squeeing about MY story, which is teh suck of me, because it's awesome.

I don't know. I've just had a really weird Christmas all round, this year. I keep telling myself it was fine, but if I actually think about how different it was to all the other Christmases in my life, I just start crying again. I don't think I'm doing as okay as I want to think I am.

Ah well...like I told [livejournal.com profile] llamabitchyo , I suck at guessing games. Maybe by next years MtYG my instincts will be a little sharper.

I remember guessing wrong last year and I'm fairly sure I haven't read yours this year. And if I end up being wrong there too I'll just write you a ficlet instead. ;-)
