I've never watched an Olympics closing ceremony before - I assumed they'd be boring. Last night's wasn't.

For me, the highlights were:

- inexplicable giant octopus. wtf?
- Spice Girls with taxis I would love to ride in/on
- ERIC IDLE with Morris dancers and rollerskating nuns and barelegged Romans; the entire Netherlands team (and practically everyone else in the arena) singing along; and a human cannonball.

But where was Wills?

I liked the gigantic flag shape and got to watch a couple of songs but then I had an early morning on Monday and had to miss half of it. Boo!

The Netherlands (I'm just going to assume it was the whole country, wherever they all happened to be) singing along with Eric Idle made me smile so hard. Also Harry and Kate whistling along. So great!

They gave the impression that they were having a really good time, which was so nice to see.

The closings usually are boring, but I agree, last night's was not. It was good fun. I was impressed.

It was fun, indeed! Quite a lot of dance-able stuff, and some good old-fashioned British silliness too.
