I can't help it, I always find these things extremely suspect. A few years ago, all my lesbo friends were comparing finger lengths (it's an index of lesbian sexuality! No, really!) Plus, panel of 82? Is that all? I'd want to see a much larger sample for anything more than conjecture.
But! Entertaining as hell!

It's... odd, isn't it? I do wonder what the *point* of such studies might be. But I bought the paper this morning and sat reading while I waited for the dentist to get to me, and it just seemed like the kind of thing that could make a giggle-worthy fanfic, somehow.

Exactly! My ex used to point at articles in the Metro (stuff like twelve women in, say, an office in Durham preferred manly men with hairy chests who don't wash up) with great interest. When I pointed out that *she* wasn't a great fan of men with hairy chests, she told me it was 'Science'.
Fanfic, though! Oh yes. Let me just encourage you, eh? *nudge*
(A ring finger definitely longer than a forefinger is apparently an indicator of lesbianism. I'm serious.)
