I met two Mormon missionaries this morning. They showed up to the knitting group—not randomly, for one of the regulars is a Mormon and lured them into our clutches last week. They both brought embryo scarves*. Very wholesome girls. I had not expected ever to meet Mormon missionaries. With name badges, even.

Anyway.

Jason Looney should play Lance Bass's prettier younger brother. See Not Looking. (Lance is in eps 4 and 5.)

Also, 2/5 looking very dapper and happy. Do we think JC has been bitten by a vampire? It seems unlikely, but he doesn't seem to be ageing at all. Speaking of JC, I don't think I'd ever have predicted him being involved in a project that also involves Johnny Rotten. How the world turns.

My Beast has spent much of his day trying to find out which bits of Norwich are supplied with Virgin broadband. Oddly few, is the answer so far.



* Begun scarves, I mean, ie all the garter stitching they had managed since they were taught to knit at last week's group meeting. Because scarves for embryos would not be useful.

Wow. I don't think I've ever met a genuine Mormon in the wild. I've only ever seen them in pairs in suits knocking on doors.

I think these two spend quite a lot of their time knocking on doors, but from the reply I got when I asked how it was going, I don't think they're getting a lot of converts!

Half our street has Virgin cable. HALF.

And there's a tarmac'd patched line across the road where they cabled the installer's house only.

Half as in one side of the road, or half as in half-way along the street?

We were looking at our road's set-up, and there's an obvious cable path under the grass verge and across everyone's drive, on the side where we live—but nothing comparable on the other side. We're indulging ourselves with the hope that Virgin have Really Big Drills and can drill under the road without disturbing the surface... It is an absolute pain trying to figure out where cable is available—it's so annoying that there doesn't seem to be a map.

Mostly one side of the street, but some random patches on the other side. The only way I know to find out whether it's available or not is doing a search for the specific house number and post code.

We've been doing that with the For Sale houses for which we could find exact post codes - and very tedious it is, too! Otoh, we didn't think to look at the supplied details to see whether it was mentioned, which I suppose it might be.

Why Virgin in particular? Aquiss are our ISP and we are very happy with them. Would recommend them.

Partly that we want cable; partly also that competition is good for service, and we reckon that if there is cable available the ADSL services are likely to be on their toes in that area, too.

Hmm. It appears that JC's letting The Hair grow again; it's looking extra floppy in all his recent photos (which makes me a happy panda :)

Now that you mention it, I don't think I've ever met a Mormon either! Hell, I didn't even know any Protestants 'til after I turned eighteen - which, WEIRD, I know. NYC, yo. :)

I was alerted to our regular being a Mormon when she explained that evolution was against her religion and went on from there, and I decided to talk about something else (knitting group not being the place for point-and-laugh). But the two little missionaries were quite a surprise! I don't think they're finding many souls to save. Surprise!

JC is looking good, of course. I amused myself with wondering which of the persons standing next to him was the one he brung—or was it both?
