Mar. 5th, 2015 05:28 pmOh, Chris. IDEK.
We received a bunch of contracts and transfer papers this morning, and have to conclude that the way solicitors do the conveyancing thing is just arcane. Why, for instance, wait until we are being asked to sign something before you decide on the deposits to be paid? Everybody knows there will *be* a deposit. Why not start working it out once you have an agreement to purchase? Also, why not update the contract as new information comes in? I mean. Apparently it's all agreed in correspondence between solicitors. We apply a decorative signature to something, and they put in all the pertinent details afterwards.
And solicitors would be the first people to advise you not to sign something without reading and checking it.
I JUST WANNA MOVE, dammit!
