May. 5th, 2015 08:27 pmI can only hope that prolonged exposure to the culture of Norwich leads me to become indifferent to cake. This does not, at present, seem very likely, but seriously—So Much Cake!
Beast's brother is staying with us for a few days (and we're trying to lure him into moving to Norwich), so we went into the city centre today to have lunch (Cake!) at Biddy's Tea Shop and then have a look at the Castle, which is a splendid place and much more awesome than I had expected. I picked up a sheaf of leaflets of things to do in and around Norwich. It is a good inch high. Hmm. If anyone fancies a trip to Norwich, we can do some of these things together!
I have just finished off the Cake! from Biddy's. They do serve enormous slices, and it was far too good to abandon. Chocolate and Rose cake. Oh yes. I had (bought) lentil soup for supper by way of penance.
Our days continue to fill with house progress. Our architect is coming tomorrow to take serious measurements. Thursday I'm hoping to get to a pottery place to make house signs of great splendour, and then take my voice test at barbershop choir. On Friday we should be receiving planks for a pelmet, and three beds. Saturday, the man with the digger arrives to produce a soakaway in the back garden. Sunday… we'll probably be constructing the beds The man with the digger should finish the job on Monday. Meep.
Meanwhile, I ought to be trying to write this evening. Whether this works will depend on (a) whether I am too much distracted by Beast's companionable game of WoW, and (b) whether I can dredge up an atom of writing ability, which of late has deserted me so completely that I don't even have stories in my head at bedtime. I don't like it.

Date: 2015-05-06 09:29 am (UTC)Do you get to watch the Great Irish Bake Off? I adore Biddy White Lennon and your local cake shop has made me think of her. And cake, of course.

Date: 2015-05-06 02:39 pm (UTC)I've not seen the Great Irish Bake Off. I have watched the British one, once or twice, and been awed by the participants, but I suspect watching more of it would lead me along a cake-laden path I dare not tread. Already I cannot venture into Lakeland, because I swear they have a mind-altering substance in the air there that makes every person who enters experience a sudden desire to bake and decorate cupcakes.
