Dear me, I did not mean to have such a break from posting. It's probably because I have done nothing noteworthy in the last ten days or so. All I have actually done, apart from an extended leaf-gathering session last week (the garden is once again knee deep in sycamore, sweet chestnut and beech leaves), is fail to knit mittens. I have been trying several possibilities, but so far am not really satisfied with the results.

And as I knit, I watch a selection of wedding dress shows... I have no idea why, since (a) they are all the same, (b) I rarely care about anybody involved, and (c) I rather hope my Bun, if and when she gets married, avoids the whole white wedding dress deal and does something much more individual.

What I have concluded, though, is that if anybody wants a somewhat unusual way of getting really, *really* drunk, I suggest a Say Yes to the Dress drinking game.

Any time someone on the show says..

“we met in high school”
"he's my soulmate”
"I want something form-fitting"
or “the sweetheart neckline” (you are excused from drinking if she says “a sweetheart neckline”, otherwise you will die)

…drink.

Also drink if someone on the screen says her dress must be “unique”.*

But if she says “very unique” you must leap to your feet, raise your glass high, bellow “Very unique!” and empty the glass down your throat.**

On another note, I caught up on Nick Carter on DWTS, and he is being very cute indeed. Slightly untidy ballroom technique but (of course) spot on with steps and timing. DWTS, I note, has reinvented itself, which seems a pity. I feel woe when I think back to Joey's stint on the show, when so many of us were watching and commenting, and footage was posted for those of us not in the US to share. Nick is being very cute!

I possibly have a desperate crush on Mrs Nick, too. What an amazon.

Tom Bergeron seems nicer these recent seasons than when I started watching seriously (the season Amber Riley won), he used to be creepily homophobic. Maybe he was joshing with Bruno and they are great buds but it didn't feel like it for me, the viewer. Derek seems almost human this time,too.

Mrs Nick is rather splendid. Have you seen "I Heart Nick Carter" (the reality show about his wedding)? We watched it at Camp this year, and you can see Nick grow up... also, you can see him acquire some worthwhile Family, which is really sweet.

I've only ever really watched DWTS for my adored Nsync Boys (and now Nick), but I thought Tom Bergeron was way better than Bruce Forsyth, who did Strictly in the UK. I must have missed the icky stuff.

OH MY GOD! I have watched 2 minutes and 21 seconds on youtube and I love her even more.

I fortunately managed to miss Bruce Forsyth on Strictly. Tess seems to be a bit insincere at times, but that could be just in comparison to Claudia Winkleman who I've grown to love deeply from Great British Sewing Bee.

On the rare occasion I watch SYTTD, I do so in company with a friend's cat. She approves of the floofy dresses. Marabou trim extra points.

I wouldn't dare try it with a bottle of red wine, at any rate! (I wonder if the bottle would last for more than one American half hour?)
