The DW meme.
Aug. 22nd, 2016 10:32 amWhat the heck.
1. Why did you sign up for Dreamwidth?
There was so much negativity on LJ, and all sorts of things were slowing down. By contrast, there seemed to be some excitement about DW.
2. Why did you choose your journal name?
Pensnest was an easy choice when I signed up for a LiveJournal, and I seem to be the only 'pensnest' around, so I'm sticking with it.
3. Do you crosspost? Why or why not?
Yes. I regard DW as my primary journal nowadays, but can't quite bring myself to abandon LJ altogether. There are a few people who're still only on LJ, so I crosspost and I read through my friends list. The DW and LJ reading lists are somewhat different.
4. What do you do online when you're not on DW?
Read Shakesville, Freethought Blogs, notalwaysright, various things that have caught my attention. Read fic.
5. How about when you're not on the computer?
Knitting, going to the gym, singing barbershop. Currently, spending quite a lot of time house-hunting with/for my father in law. Occasionally working on my garden.
6. What do you wish people who read your journal knew about you?
I think the things that people may not know about me are things I'd prefer them not to know, on the whole.
7. What is your favorite community on Dreamwidth?
fancake
8. What community do you wish was more active?
crack_sparkle_pop, but I guess everything except my heart has given up on popslash fandom now.
9. Are there two people on your reading list that you think should meet?
I dunno about that, but there are some people on LJ who ought to come to Camp Sparkle!
10. Tell me about your default icon.
It's me as a baby.
11. What features do you think Dreamwidth should have that it doesn't currently?
Image hosting.
12. What do you consider the five most "telling" interests from the list on your profile?
I have only eleven interests listed, but I don't think any of them is particularly 'telling'.
13. Do you have any unique interests on your user profile? What are they? How'd they get there?
Well, I just put 'instant classic' onto my profile, mostly because I'm doing this meme and thought to review my list!
14. Did you have a gateway fandom? Still in it? Why or why not? Is there a community for it on DW?
Star Trek: TNG. I fell out of it in 2000 for a variety of reasons, and was bereft until I discovered popslash and LJ in 2005. I do very occasionally look at a TNG fic these days.
15. What's your current obsession? What about it captures your imagination?
Instant Classic, 2015 International Barbershop Quartet winners. Um. They sing really well? They're cute? I don't think there is a fandom for barbershoppers, and that may be for the best, but I have these songs in my head and the guys have started talking to me….
16. What are you glad you did but haven't really had a chance to post about?
Can't think of anything in particular. Sometimes it seems odd that I didn't have an online (or indeed an offline) journal for major events of my life, which I'd probably remember in better detail if I had written them down.
17. How many people on your reading list do you know IRL?
Quite a few, mostly thanks to Camp Sparkle. I've *met* perhaps 25-30 at least once.
18. What don't you talk about here, either because it's too personal or because you don't have the energy?
I generally don't go much into how I feel about things that make me unhappy, perhaps because so much is right with my life that it would feel weird to complain.
19. Any questions from the audience?
What? Also How, Who, When, Where and a big side order of Why?
20. Yes, but what are your thoughts on yaoi?
It's a word which makes me think of the cry of an angry cat.
21. What's your favorite thing about Dreamwidth?
Random Icon feature! I think it's psychic.
