Cat report

pensnestWhile I was briefly away from home for a barbershop education day, the cats had quite an exciting time.
Sable went outside. She has always been Deeply Suspicious of outside, probably because it is big, but apparently yesterday she was peering so intently out of the window that Beast thought she might like to go out. She did go out, and promptly disappeared. He hunted for her for some time, and eventually discovered her sitting on the cistern of the outside loo, and carried her back in.
This morning, she permitted me to stroke her for some time, and even to apply a brush to her thick fur.
Meanwhile, Fluffy caught a baby bird. Which she brought inside, not as an offering to her people but for its entertainment value (though as it was already dead, this was small). Sigh.
This morning, Beast invited me to look out of the window (I was in bed drinking my matutinal tea). There were two cats in the garden: one was a bun-shaped brownobject which eventually resolved into an entirely fluffed up Princes Fluffykins, the other was a white cat with tan patches. They stared at one another, about six feet apart. Eventually the interloper cat paced a bit in s-l-o-w motion, and eventually Fluffy followed it, also in s-l-o-w motion, until it departed through the hedge and she shot back inside.
