Well, I think that was the best royal wedding ever. So much more fun than the usual style! And the most beautiful royal bride I've seen. Possibly my favourite moment was the bride's entry into the church—the small boy holding the veil behind her gaped with joy as the trumpet fanfare started. *So* adorable.

Also, Zoe! Zoe! I mean, Gina Torres. Looking fabulous. Amal Clooney, Countess Spencer, Lady Kitty Spencer, Serena Williams, looking fabulous. Idris Elba, looking like Idris Elba. I was actually out in the morning so I recorded it and watched it after I'd constructed this week's newsletter, which meant I could fast-forward through all the bits that weren't "looking at guests in fabulous outfits" which worked well for me.

It occurs to me, though, that 'Prince Harry marries mixed-race divorced American actress' is simply not real life. It's fanfic. Seriously. Royal People Fic. What is happening?

FIL was obviously of the harumph school when he discovered to his shock! horror! that the royal bride was of mixed race. He did not voice his sentiments to me, which indicates that he still has the capacity to learn, even at 93. Otherwise, he is doing pretty well, and has been (a) digging out the considerable weeds in his fruit cage and (b) wearing his alarm pendant while doing so. He had lunch with us today and was fine.

Sable has begun to set an occasional toe outside the back door, which she is more willing to do if Fluffy will collect and escort her. No more thefts from the kitchen bin, but Princess Fluffykins captured an early mouse a few days ago and brought it inside, after which both cats forgot about it and we had to entrap it in a mixing bowl and take it outside. The cats are not quite understanding their job description, methinks.

That is definitely the wrong direction to be ferrying mice in. But I hope the cats enjoy their outdoor adventures. And that your FIL continues to improve, in all senses of the word.

Thank you! I think Sable is just a very shy and wary cat, but she is much more confident about exploring indoors now, so I expect she'll figure out the garden in her own time. And then, of course, we shall have *two* mice at a time, argh!

I wasn't able to see all of it live because I had to work. :( I did see her entry and that little boy was the cutest thing! Also, Prince Harry looked utterly petrified, which I found so adorable. I'm so glad he had his brother up there with him.

She looked incredible! I love how simple and elegant her dress was, which also seems to be the same reason so many people didn't like it. Ah well.

Yes, I liked it very much for the same reasons you did. Kate's dress was a little bit of a disappointment to me—it was pretty but somehow unadventurous, and this one, despite its plainness, was more striking. And the veil had all the drama—though I think it was a bit *too* long, a little less of it would have been easier to spread out beautifully while it was 'at rest'.

Meghan obviously gets her poise (as well as her looks) from her mother.

Ah - kitties! I do not miss Ariel bringing me live mice to practice my remedial hunting skills on...

Glad to hear FIL is improving (in all pertinent aspects!)

Mind you, I was out at knitting this evening and one of the other knitters was bewailing her cat bringing in (a) a young rabbit, and (b) two mice, all dead. At least with live ones we can recapture them and put them outside, bewildered but not eviscerated on my carpet!

Her dress was so lovely! (It reminded me very much of the dress Queen Silvia wore at her wedding to the Swedish king back in the 70s.)

I thought it made an excellent, elegant and very grown-up foil for that amazing veil—particularly loved the neckline. Ooh, Queen Silvia had a *crown*! But I also very much appreciated the tiara Meghan wore—indeed, when you have a tiara like that, you don't need a decorated dress.

Occupied and frustrated, I think! Sable is training me to keep trying to pet her by *sometimes* submitting to it. *sigh*

Nah, if it were a fanfic, the bride would have glittering lavender eyes and way more syllables in her first name. (Unless I were the author, in which case she'd probably just have a cock. Because, well. Obviously.)

But I definitely agree. The whole thing is almost too unbelievable. I think that cute, little toothless boy represented all of us in that moment.

My current favorite thing is giggling at the reaction shots of the royal family during that amazing homily. They were NOT feeling it. Ha!

It really was a lovely wedding. I agree, the veil was just a touch too long, but Meghan looked amazing.
