Beast and I were upstairs (he's moving the light switch in Grandpa's bedroom) when Fluffy decided to celebrate turning two by bringing in a whole pigeon. I found a Clue when I descended the stairs and encountered a great number of feathers.

There was a large, live and very unhappy pigeon in the library. Fluffy had another go at it until Beast removed her; Sable watched with interest from on high.

The pigeon did manage to fly out, when I opened the door. It's amazing how many soft little feathers a pigeon can lose and still look perfectly normal, though I did also find four flight feathers by the downstairs loo. The tussle must have been considerable and yet carried out in silence.

Pestilent cat.

I must say it sounds like Fluffy is getting a little above herself. I mean, a pigeon can't be that much smaller than she is!!

You're not wrong - and this was a very sturdy pigeon indeed. I am amazed she managed to fit it through the cat flap, as surely it must have struggled!

That sounds very athletic of her! Glad to hear the pigeon survived.

I would *almost* like to witness the bringing in of a pigeon, just to see how it is done... at least this one got to fly away. And as there is frost and the cats look outside and go, Meh, and snuggle back on their cushion together instead of venturing forth, it's possible the pigeon may survive a while longer.

I *believe* the last one was alive, too, although it must have been practically bare of feathers. Grandpa heard the racket (we were out) and extracted the bird from Fluffy's grasp, and put it outside.

I am relieved that this one was not screaming!
