Beast found the example driving test on YouTube that gives you an idea of the hazard videos. Apparently in modern driving tests, you have to watch several videos of driving situations, and identify the developing hazards.

We tried Grandpa on it. He can't do it.

This afternoon we took him to Specsavers (his idea) for an eyesight assessment. It turns out this was useful as he has a troublesome cataract which can now be dealt with. (For uncertain values of 'now'.) But they say his eyesight is fit for driving.
