Popslash Christmas Crackers semichallenge. There are now quite a few prompts up, so why not see if anything appeals? Or add a prompt or two yourself?

The current 'His Dark Materials' is making me ponder the daemons again. I don't think it would be practical to have a sloth as my daemon, but perhaps a large and indolent cat?

But what would be the daemons of our fan idols?

Adam Lambert is easy - his is a peacock. I think it was an Astolat fic, but as far as I'm concerned, that is *it*.

But my pop boys? MCR and the other bandom guys? Miles Vorkosigan? Mal Reynolds? Other famous figures? Hmm. I wonder how it might affect politics if we could see the daemons of certain prominent figures? In the show/book, there seem to be quite a lot of snakes….

now you've got me pondering daemons as well. my first thought for Miles Vorkosigan was a honey badger, but he's not indiscriminately aggressive, just not at all interested in backing down, so I don't know if that's a good fit

I think Mal's daemon would be a squirrel. Not quite sure why, but that's what instantly popped out at me.

Miles could have a sloth (needs something to calm him down).

I don't think I've entirely figured out what the daemons *are* - do they represent the person's character, or fill in the gaps? I think the former, but your idea of a sloth gives me pause.

However, after a bit of pondering I'm inclining towards the idea of Miles having a Really Huge Dog as his daemon. Dogs seem to represent loyalty, which he has in spades; in his heart he's at least as big as any magnificent Vor scion; and he's a fighter if necessary. Not sure what breed she'd be, though - I quite like the idea of a Bernese Mountain Dog (because I think they are fabulous) because the one I used to be semi-acquainted with was also very playful.

Miles, with a Bernese that came up to his nose. I like that!

I toyed with the idea of writing it myself, once upon a time, but have realised that isn't going to happen. It should, though!
