Jan. 22nd, 2020 09:14 pmNice - and busy - weekend. It started normally enough, with the yoga class, then after lunch I set to making a venison stew, and putting lemony topping on the cheesecake.
The mixed chorus rehearsal on Sunday was to be a special one, you see - we obtained the services of one of the top barbershop directors in the country to coach us for the day. He came down on Saturday evening and stayed chez Pen, so we invited three more people over for dinner on Saturday night, and had a thoroughly agreeable evening, talking mostly about barbershop and football, but really all kinds of things.
The coaching day was great! Neil showed us a new way of thinking about singing, and a new way of getting into the right posture, and somehow it… just worked. I think everyone felt it, and it most certainly made a difference to the sound. I'd never before heard our Lead section sound so pretty! It was a very full day, and we made a lot of progress, but because the sound was all coming out without touching the sides, as it were, I wasn't at all croaky afterwards.
On Monday morning it was Ladies Who Chat time again, and the ones who'd been at the Mosaic rehearsal all said the same - brilliant, and they weren't hoarse. Good stuff.

Last night, back at the Knit & Natter session, which I have missed! I have begun the world's very-nearly-most-boring scarf, which my Adorable Niece has requested for her birthday. It appears to adorn the neck of an anime character, and AN does cosplay, so I shall do my best to knit something of extreme length. At least it is suitably mindless of TV knitting.

*Really* unimpressed with Laurence Fox.
