I discovered, not many days ago (when Beast reported to me something he had heard on the radio) that Maggie Thatcher wanted to do something about global warming during her time as Prime Minister. And if she hadn't had Nigel Lawson standing in the way, something would have got done.

This is not only the best thing I know about Margaret Thatcher, it is also solid proof that we need a greater variety of education in our MPs. Thatcher was educated as a scientist (chemistry, I think) and was prepared to look at the evidence and believe it. Lawson studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford.

How many of the blighters nowadays have done PPE at Oxford and think that qualifies them?

It's a pretty enraging time right now. People are determined to do what is not best for them.

The whole farcical situation here is the result of ignorance and prejudice, and I can't help but believe the very existence of President Donald Trump is exactly the same thing.

When I think back to 2012, the London Olympics, how excited and happy and open we were, and how good it felt to be British, I kinda want to cry.

When I think about what's happened to both of our countries I want to cry. Everything feels so very dark. And for what?? Sickening.

This idea that being certain is more important/valid than being right, or than thinking about things… it’s a mess, all of it. My brother is reading books about the (US) Civil War, I’m checking out books about the Russian Revolution — neither of us can bear to look too hard at what’s in front of us.

Despair feels a very small misstep away, these days.

Some people are just too stupid to believe.

But, one of the best things that came out of my attendance on a few of the protest marches, was that people who think as I do come in all shapes, colours and sizes. I saw plenty of big burly blokes with buzzed haircuts marching alongside me, when I'd have assumed they were on the wrong side. You never know.

I have Thanos lists, and everything. It's a bit disturbing, as I never used to think like this. Fortunately, I can't do anything about it.
