Thoughts, and a suggestion for January Jones

Beast has decided that he is henceforth a troll. He will exact a toll from each cat that passes through the door next to his chair. He is doing quite well for pettings and nosebumps.

Can you imagine what This would be like without the internet? Doesn't bear thinking about.

I feel that Love in a Time of Plague should involve a great deal of phone sex. If I had the energy I would start a challenge to that effect, but, eh. Still, something to think about, right?

Woe is me, I forgot I had put chicken stock on the hob. The kitchen was full of fragrant steam and a burnt smell. Woe.

In this post on TLo, January Jones (scroll down a few) is wearing the world's most hideous kaftan.

And, right now, as I type, I am wearing this very same garment. It is probably the ugliest garment I own. I got it many, many years ago—probably about forty, as my evil stepmother gave it to me. I keep it purely because it is warm, and I wear it instead of my customary jeans when I know I'm staying indoors and I want to ventilate my ladybits. There is no other excuse for this thing. It is knitted, incidentally, not some nice, drapey kaftan cotton.

WFT, January Jones? Are you out of your mind? Burn that thing! Unless you need to ventilate your ladybits, I suppose.

I am so grateful for the internet this week. It means I still have a job.

About two years ago I started (and did not finish) a fic set during a quarantine. I'm not sure if going back to it right now would be cathartic or anxiety-inducing.

Mmm, hard to say. If you leave it for a while, it'll probably be unnervingly authentic, so there's that...

I'm finding it quite hard to watch contemporary telly right now because it all assumes a rather different world from the one we have. Completely impossible to do RPF, of course.

I'm reading a LOT of historical and fantasy right now, because contemporary just... isn't what we're living.

We watched one of the Babylon 5 movies this evening, the one that's the prelude to Crusade, and I probably wouldn't have watched that if I'd known the theme. I'm going to make Himself watch Killjoys next.

I agree with you very much in principle about the phone sex! Somehow I feel like I have even less time to write now than before. But it would be very much a propos.

Yes - I don't seem to have much less going on, particularly since we are doing our best to maintain an exercise regimen, and I cannot deal with exercise before 10am and then there's a shower and then it's time to make lunch and that's the morning gone.

Don't think I can write sex of any kind, either. Odd, that, it used to be easy enough. Perhaps I actually did use up all the words!

I have to admit, I thought you meant the internet kind on first reading, maybe hunting reddit and causing fuss. I'm glad it's the other kind of troll because the first didn't fit him at all!

No internet at this time would be terrible.

I was also a bit taken aback when he first told me, but then he talked about bridges and were the words troll and toll related, and I thought, well, if it gets him more cat interaction I can't blame him.

With it, we can keep fed and entertained and social. My grandma died seventeen years ago, but if she were still alive now I think I would have had to bring her here, as she'd have had only the phone as a lifeline.

The thought of Beast as a troll exacting tolls from cats amuses me greatly.

That is indeed a scarily ugly garment!

It's funny, since for years and years he refused to have much to do with Socks! But he is definitely in thrall to these two.

This may be controversial, but...I like the caftan? It's low effort, yet dramatic! It needs some kind of head styling, though, like a brightly colored scarf? Or maybe just a ton of eye makeup?

I find the caftan useful but garish. It's a knitted thing... I wonder if January Jones found it in a thrift shop? I do hope so!

I didn't think the kaftan was so bad (except for the inexplicably large gaps between the buttons in front) until I read that it's knitted. WHY.

Yeah. It's definitely not a summer garment *and* needs an undergarment to protect my modesty. :-(
