There is a YouTube entry here which takes you on a tour of Norwich, as it now is, with the streets deserted, the market stalls closed, and yet, beautiful spring sunshine. Worth a look if you have any curiosity to see my lovely city.

It's a Proper City, with actual history. I lived in Hemel Hempstead for many years, and while Hemel does theoretically have history, like a charter from Henry VIII, it's not very visible. Mostly it's a New Town from the 20th century. I so appreciate the mixtures of Norwich!

It reminds me of a Roman town, though I don't think strictly that it is. Probably has a good few similarities with Durham, I should think. Less steep, though!

Beautiful city! Those cobblestone streets! And somehow the people-free shots are not filling me with anxiety the way all that deserted Midtown footage did!

Of course you live within walking distance of a gorgeous, thousand year old castle. And I live down the block from an abandoned post office that's been taken over by hyper-intelligent rats. That's what you call JUXTAPOSITION, baby. :)

*And* a gorgeous thousand year old cathedral, don't forget (though I'm not sure how much that featured in the video). Mind you, a sizeable and insouciant rat practically ran across my feet in the vicinity of the castle when I was visiting it with chalcopyrite.
