domestic miscellany
Sep. 5th, 2009 10:00 pmIt has been quiet and domestic here for a while, although I have followed in fascinated horror the saga of Pervy!SurveyFail. Wow.
Bun accumulated a heaped salad bowlful of blackberries from our back garden (yes, the best things in life *are* free) and made two very good blackberry crumbles (is there any other kind?), earning herself many points. She and I then had a nice girly morning in Milton Keynes shopping centre, where we bought about half the stock from Lush, and pootled about in vain search for something to give Beast for his birthday. What he *wants* (and will get) is a solid-state hard drive, but we thought it'd be nice to give him a surprise, too. However, nothing sprang to mind. He wants for nothing, plainly.
First rehearsal for the new show went well, and I am much relieved. Our director is very on the ball and organised, and our MD, though in the words of our rehearsal pianist, 'a child!', got some very nice noise out of the chorus. Phew. And I have found myself singing tiny snatches from Seussical this week, which shows that I am actually learning it, which is good. Our Youth Section is performing it in October, and I'm going to be one of the Pit Singers. There is good stuff in the score, but really, there are key changes (seven flats! seven sharps!) every half-dozen bars, and what is worse, key changes immediately followed by our entrances with no hope of plucking our note from the preceding semi-quaver-long chord. Oh boy. Still, it's possible. Anything's possible.
And, I have written my
rpf_big_bang story (with the exception of one internal scene, though the ending is a bit iffy), 22,600 words so far for your delectation, gentle readers, come October. I am, currently, very much in love with it, so am trembling at the thought of sending it out to betas. Be kind, my dear ones, be kind! But make it better.

Date: 2009-09-07 05:38 am (UTC)Ah, the joy of children. :) Even though my kidlet lost my umbrella today and at times, I became short with him, we have an okay day. Lots of laughing, skipping, and sort-of running. :D
What this show you're speaking of? I somehow missed it in my persuing of my flist.
I'm sure your fic is awesome and all will be well, and I look forward to spending a chunk of my life reading it. Time well spent, that. :D

Date: 2009-09-07 08:14 am (UTC)The show is 'Brigadoon', just starting rehearsals now, performance next March. I'm not planning to be in it, but as I'm musical business manager for my amateur company, I've had a lot to do with getting it set up.
I'm looking forward to being able to 'publish' my story. In a month's time...
