I've been following the Election Day thread(s) on MetaFilter. It feels a bit like being inside a cement mixer with the bricks, and must be much worse for actual Americans.

My little Sable (2.9kg, or rather less than 6.5lb, most of it fur) is improving her head/fistbump skills and it is so charming. She is also augmenting her levels of vocal demand.

She was unmoved by last night's fireworks, occasionally staring out at the sparkles in the sky, but mostly indifferent to it all. Today, though, there was a five-minute *explosion* of sparkles from next-door's garden, and she stared at that with very wide eyes, but we petted her and she did not flee.

She has been playing with a small mouse toy, leaping on it, tossing it about a bit, then running away. I tried to tempt her with the feathers-onna-fishing-line that kept Fluffy working for *hours*, but she just looks at it with incomprehension/disdain.

I finished my daughter's Christmas Jumper in time to give it to her on her Official Birthday. Thought you might like to see it. It is an unusually tasteful Christmas Jumper, I feel. Click to embiggen, I expect.

I spotted this in Sainsbury's last week. I had planned to use it as my first pic on my new Instagram account, but Instagram tells me that I cannot post pix from a desktop computer and WTF?? Screw that.

I was doing okay with the stress--staying off twitter, not watching the 24/7 news or even really looking at the online papers--until Thursday, when the vote count here in Georgia really started to pick up the absentee/vote-by-mail ballots from the cities and then it was just addictive, to see the gap close and then finally (at 5 a.m. Friday morning and yes, my best friend texted me at that point) turn blue. Fortunately, my department head told everyone to take a half-day and start the weekend early, but that last video call was eeeeeeendless.

Now it's just waiting to see if Pennsylvania is going to get to the point where it's mathematically impossible for the gap to close (because Georgia really is too close to call until every last vote is counted at this point.)

I must admit, the size of the numbers involved makes it difficult for me to assess what a 'safe' lead looks like. But it does seem as though announcing the results once the votes have actually been counted would be... a whole lot easier on a lot of people's blood pressure! Then again, for the more rabid among the electorate, perhaps it does make sense to ease things out.

Thank you. I didn't think my daughter would appreciate more traditionally Christmas colours, but blue is what she wears, so I have hopes she will wear this. I did miraculously well as regards fit!

I am thinking of getting an Instagram account because I'm told that's where all the people talking about sewing patterns are but I asked my children if I could post from my desktop computer and they looked at me all confused as to why I would want to do such a thing.

It's a sad thing, getting Too Old For The Internet. Grrrr. I can't see any benefit in running my life from a small screen when I could run it using this gigantic one.

If you were a knitter I would of course direct you to Ravelry, but sewing is another matter.

I hadn't realised Sable was so tiny! I think Lancecat's small and he weighs four kilos. Good to hear she wasn't scared by the fireworks. It's one of the few things that makes Lancecat go hide under my bed. Her playing with that mouse toy sounds adorable!

It's a fabulous Christmas jumper! I particularly like the snowy forest around the border. So pretty!
