Snowflake Challenge #12

Snowflake Challenge #12 is In your own space, resurrect an old meme. Have fun with it! Which is the goofiest meme you can think of? Put on your party hat and be silly!! Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Hmmmmmm.
I used to do a lot of writing memes, but that was back when I used to do a lot of writing.
I did find a general, all-purpose meme that I completed on 3rd August 2020, and to my amusement discovered the same meme (well, there are differences, mostly in the numbering of questions, which is logical in the earlier, uncorrupted version) back in 2011. Despite being in a completely different house, the answers are very much the same.
*
Perhaps a more generally interesting one is actually snipped from a bigger writing-themed meme:
Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas)
My offerings:
1. The guys are rival knitwear designers who secretly adore one another's stuff but are not allowed to say so in public. What?
2. Someone's cat is called Magic (short for Magic 8-ball) and can talk and predict the future. It dispenses advice, but only in short, cryptic, cat-larynx-friendly phrases. It's not as helpful as you might think.
I would be charmed to see any other AU suggestions!

corvidology suggested this one, and I thought I'd have a look. Post the summaries of your top 10 works by kudos
The titles coded like this are stories which I did not write. I did quite a bit of podfic recording at one time, and these are all stories I recorded.
Top ten Works by kudos are:
Contamination Issues (Avengers)
Dr. Rosalind Elliot, Lab Director and Chief Analyst, has the dubious task of giving a lab tour to Dr. Bruce Banner and Mr. Tony Stark. Dr. Banner is all right. Too bad she thinks Tony Stark is a lower life form than a grub.
And perhaps too much science has made Dr. Elliot a bit near-sighted.
I had fun figuring out an appropriate musical accompaniment to this one.
The Voice in the Night (Harry Potter)
There were a lot of words Hermione Granger would have used to describe Hogwarts castle over the years, but creepy was never one of them. Until tonight. Set post-Deathly Hallows.
I think I was a useful Beta on this one.
By Invitation Only (ST:TNG)
A planetary population is threatened by plague, and Data nearly gets married.
Let the Cat Out of the Bag (Glambert)
Tommy has a secret, a furry secret. This is what Happens when Adam finds out.
Features my then-cat, Socks.
Vacation (ST:TNG)
Data is entitled to a holiday, once in a while, but it takes him some time to discover how to have a good time.
The Hufflepuff Hotchpotch (Bandom/Harry Potter)
When Hufflepuffs all over Great Britain swap their bodies, Spencer and Brendon are assigned to the investigation of these case.
Fun to do, as it was written for the podfic challenge and author Eledhwenlin figured out lots of fun ways to incorporate interesting sound.
A Contingency of Geese (Agent Carter)
Peggy just wanted to have a nice Saturday. The geese had other plans.
Again with the sound effects!
Sunday Afternoon (Harry Potter)
In which Dumbledore is harassed by Gellert Grindelwald, helps Remus Lupin and placates Severus Snape, all in the course of a Sunday afternoon. And all he'd wanted was to be left alone with a cup of tea and the Daily Prophet puzzle page...
I think this must also have been for the podfic challenge, so interesting ways of using sound.
The Things that Juliana Didn't Say (ST:TNG)
A story about Data's childhood, and how he came to be lying deactivated and alone when he was found.
I never quite believed Juliana Tainer was telling the whole truth about her life with Dr Soong. This story attempts to reconcile the oddities of TNG canon.
Buzz (ST:TNG)
It's Ensign Sue's first day aboard the Enterprise, and the squeaky clean starship has already tidied her vibrator out of existence. What is a girl to do?
For the record, of the stories I actually wrote, the top ten are as follows (without the summary, if it has already been given):
By Invitation Only
Vacation
The Things that Juliana Didn't Say
Buzz
Dragon Country (Popslash/Glambert)
In a world not entirely like our own, Lance Bass runs an agency finding jobs in showbiz. In his spare time, he goes dragon-hunting, though that is not the only secret he's keeping from his friends. Adam Lambert wants a job, but Adam Lambert wears dragon-hide boots.
Elsewhere, Chris is too honest for his boss, JC makes sculptures with too many right angles, Britney wants to get back to painting, and Joey feeds people exactly what they want to eat.
Feast, or, What every gay Jewish boy wants for Christmas (Popslash/Glambert)
Adam is uncomfortably certain that Lance is going to invite him to spend Christmas in Mississippi with Lance's family. He's even persuaded himself to accept.
He's wrong, though. Lance is going to ask him if he wants a threesome.
With Brad.
Bouquet (Popslash/Glambert)
Adam and Lance are so not each other's type. Then Adam falls in love with a song and a concept, Katy is a recovering Nsync fan, Chris meddles, Joey and Kris dispense useful advice, JC tries to stay out of it, and Lance is surprised.
Wanna Tell Me About It? (Popslash/Glambert)
Adam Lambert is an aspiring actor (who sings a bit); Lance Bass is a TV producer looking to run his own series. Their first meeting does not go well.
A Few Datas More (ST:TNG)
Data visits the holodeck in order to confirm that Worf's Ancient West program is running correctly.
It isn't.
This is, really, because most of my stories were originally posted to LJ and received their comments at that time. That the above are either Trek or Adam Lambert/Lance Bass is probably because the Lambass stories have a chance of reaching both popslashers and Glamberts. I guess.

Date: 2021-01-24 04:28 pm (UTC)Hmmm, my offering.
How about a safari park, but instead of 'normal' animals, it contains weres, it's just, no one is aware of that. I say this because I like the idea of were!gibbon Joey thinking it's funny to show his arse to the people looking at him,and were!leopard Kevin all sleek and lithe longing on a branch. Obviously were!Alpaca Justin hangs out and tries to charm people watching despite the fact he has a really goofy face under his curls. While were!hyena Lance likes to unnerve people by cackling at random while plotting to take over the world.
Were!dolphin JC swims in a huge pool, flipping around and enjoying catching fish while in the next enclosure were!shark Nick likes to startle kids by showing his teeth at the enclosed viewing pod area and laughing, bubbles popping as he watches their reaction.
Or something like that.

Date: 2021-01-24 04:29 pm (UTC)I also feel with you on AO3 stats when most of my older works were originally posted to LJ (and their AO3 uploads are missing that traffic in the statistics).

Date: 2021-01-24 08:10 pm (UTC)Yeah, I feel somewhat grumpy that I am an author with so few kudos, but I suppose back when fics were posted to LJ, we had more of a relationship with our readers.
I put a spell on you ...

Date: 2021-01-25 06:39 am (UTC)How about an AU where A keeps passing through the tollbooth that B mans, but at non-peak hours so they have time to chat for a moment. But then B's tollbooth is replaced with an automated one and A must gather all the scraps of personal information ever shared and go on a quest to find B again.
I was going to be shocked that no pop fics were in your top ten, but yeah, the shift in platforms really skews that, of course.

Date: 2021-01-25 09:07 am (UTC)I think if all my output were on AO3 first, 'Bouquet' would be highest rated, followed by 'Merchandising'. Ah well.

Date: 2021-01-26 08:56 am (UTC)I know there are reasons that popslash fics don't skew high in the stats department on AO3 and I know those reasons are legit and even kind of make sense, but my bitterest self is still gonna go to the grave side-eyeing everyone else's taste levels and shaking my head.
