Sunshine Challenge #3

Prompt 3: Hecate
Otherworldly and mysterious, Hecate is best known for her association with magic, ghosts, and the night. If you hear the baying of hounds in the dark, she's likely near as they were ever at her side. She is traditionally depicted as bearing two torches to light her way or as a triple goddess of the crossroads. In mythology she is known for helping Demeter search for her daughter Persephone, a theme that ties her even more to the Underworld and spirits she is associated with. Today she is often considered a representative of those liminal places where reality bends and all manner of events may unfold...

Yeah, these prompts are coming in a little dark for me. Most of my fic and fannishness are on the light and fluffy side of things, so it's hard to find a fit.

I do, however, have a vague but tenacious association of Hecate with Rome, which was an awesome show. I made a bunch of icons for it, which are here:

I can see that. Maybe the next will be a little lighter?

I just didn't have a response. I'd wanted to talk about witches with the Hecate prompt, when I first saw it, but then it went a very different direction so I was stuck. And very glad I didn't write a whole post for it. :/ That's my trouble, most of these come out during the week, which means I can't really type up answers the way I would if I knew for certain ahead of time.

Hopefully I'm not being too much of a pain, but the challenge is meant to be a conversation, and witches would be very fun to hear about if you have things to say! This isn't that kind of challenge where we gatekeep entries (I certainly don't have time for that). No pressure to join, of course, but I hate to see folks restrict themselves from sharing something they were interested in writing about!

Thank you so much! You're not being too much of a pain. I'll keep that in mind for future entries, and perhaps come back to the witch idea eventually. :)

FWIW, it wasn't just that, I have about a million projects going on at once. I'm surprised my socks haven't ended up in the freezer. ;) Now there's something to tie Hecate to...

No worries (and I'm right there with you -- I had planned to draw things for these challenges and then life was like LOL NO so I've had to share lower energy responses instead ... maybe I'll get some art done later).

Sorry this one didn't speak to you as strongly as others. As a mod, it's been so interesting to see folks struggle with different prompts as I had a lot of folks say that Eos was too bright and cheery for them. xD It takes all kinds, and I've enjoyed what everyone's come up with each prompt so far!

I'll take a peek at the icon page now. I wish I had an answer for Photobucket as I have quite a few things there myself now locked with watermarks and zero desire to move them elsewhere.

Meanwhile, I self-rec'd all two fics about death! LOL. Although like I said at the time, it was more because of the "new dawn" of it all, and I like to think they weren't actually about death as much as they were change and hope. Plus, one fic wasn't about death at all, just "normal" unpleasantness, as it were. :) My point is, it does take all kinds.

Photobucket is *so* irritating. I stopped using it years ago, but finding my old icon offerings polluted in this way makes me cross!

I don't know the show, but even without that I can see you have such a great eye for framing in those icons!

Thank you - and let me recommend that you take a look at the show if you get the chance. It's very interesting, and they manage to put across quite a different mind-set to modern sensibilities.
