I woke this morning with the word 'plump' in my head, and I have been repeating it so often I no longer know what it means.

It might interest you to know that it's a word in Swedish too. It can mean either 'coarse' as in 'a coarse joke', or 'splotch' as in 'ink splotch'.

Sadly no. The Swedish U is pronounced more like the U in urban. It's a little "sharper" and a little longer but not much. (In general Swedish wovels are more straightforward than English, even when they're long, and contain one sound only. To mee many long Engish wovels sound more like diphtongs than single letters.)

I'm surprised you can spell it correctly after pondering it that long. Words look wrong to me once I get to that stage.

Seeing the word "plump" immediately calls to mind the accompanying word "pleasingly" for me, so I just enjoyed that.

Yay for the proud dads!

It is rather a nice word, on the whole, and being associated with 'pleasingly' doesn't hurt. I also associate it with Keats' Ode to Autumn.
