Snowflake Challenge #6

Snowflake Challenge #6 was to Create Something, so I herewith present my Friends Scarf. nopseud sent me this vibrant yarn—magenta and yellow with a smattering of white—for Christmas, so I found a relatively simple pattern that's made a little more zingy by being knitted on the diagonal. Might perhaps add a tassel to each end with the small amount of remaining yarn.

Also, the yarn for this hat was given by Mr Bond, Lollipop, Snow Apple and Khal Drogo. It feels beautifully smooth—well, it would, as the aforementioned are alpacas. I bought the yarn last year on my travels round the Norfolk Open Studios.

Lovely! Those are both great combinations of the patterns with the particular yarns.

It can be quite hard to find a good pattern for a yarn with a short colour change, so I'm very pleased with how the scarf turned out.

Wow, that wool looks amazing in the scarf! I love the way the pattern makes it look completely different in the different stripes. It looks like a particularly delicious ripple ice cream. :-)

Thanks! The hat looks as if it might be a bit rough to the touch, but it's actually very silky and nice. The scarf, of course, has such great colours.

That's awesome! The hat did indeed look like it might be a little scratchy, but it's nice that is silky. And the scarf does have marvelous colours, and I really like the pattern too.

The pattern is called Shine, and is quite a simple knit, good for working on while watching TV.

That's really cool. Also, I would have guessed crochet rather than knitting, but that looks like it would be a really fun pattern to try.

It's very effective, isn't it! As I recall, a bit of a pig to knit when it got near the top, but essentially a simple design.

It worked out very well! Very subtle colours, and usually I am seduced by vibrant ones, but I like these. Also, so very silky to touch.
