As popslash readers undoubtedly know, the DWNOGA site has not been working for some years now. I think the first year's index leads to stories, but after that, nothing.

So it just occurred to me to see if it was available via the Wayback Machine. Except it turns out I don't know how to use the WayBack Machine—I found how often the site has been 'crawled' but I can't find the stories there.

Has anybody actually found DWNOGA on there? Can you share a link? Or, as the whole site now presents a 404 Site Not Found message, are those stories completely Gone?

To access the Wayback Machine's snapshots you have to look further down on the calendar it provides showing when they crawled the site and select one of the dates. From there you will see what they actually archived (which won't necessarily be complete).

I chose a 31 August 2019 snapshot and got this:

Thank you - I got to the story indices but it turns out the stories themselves weren't available. At least, not that I could achieve. Woe.

Some of them are. The first one I tried wasn't but others were.

The index pages seem to be archived, but I clicked on one of the stories written for me and one that I think I wrote back in the day (can't remember the titles lol) and neither of those had been archived.

I'm getting much the same result. It's much like the last couple of times I tried to access DWNOGA before the website disappeared—I think the index for the first year actually linked to stories, but nothing else did. Such a shame.

Then for all the pages that have listings, click through to the calendar and click one of the highlighted dates. I don't know if every story is available, but it looks like many are.

DW seems to be dropping the asterisk off the end of the URL, which is important - let's try this:

Ach, I'm not getting anywhere. Whether it's my own incompetence or just no stories, I can't be sure, but I think they're basically gone. Such a shame. If Georgina had been more available I could probably have asked to archive the site on my own website. I assume it's too late now.
