I won at breakfast today.

It's the long gym morning - normally we both do Yoga together at 0915, after which Beast has a spin class and I go into the gym and escape a bit early so's I can have a coffee in the caff there. Today, of course, he's there on his own - I am not yet permitted to bend more than 90 degress, and if you cannot bend you cannot yogue. (I bet I could do a mean plank, but then I wouldn't be able to get up.)

So I shambled up to the shops, just me and my crutch and my string hippo ballerina bag with "I don't sweat, I sparkle" on my back. Had a really excellent bacon sandwich - better bread than the bland commercial roll I had expected, possibly ciabatta, and well stuffed with bacon - and a pot of tea. A++, will eat again, probably next Wednesday.

Then I hauled myself along the road a bit to the butcher, put in a Christmas order, and invited one of the butchers to Christmas lunch. Well, he was telling me about the Archers Cheese Box (which sounds very desirable) and that when he goes to Christmas lunch with friends, he takes them just such a Box, so naturally.... Alas, he was already booked.

After that, a quick trip to Aldi for mushrooms, and I stumped home again, competent but slow.

I feel positively accomplished! And it is nice to get out of the house.

Bacon is always a winning day!

Glad your recovery seems to be going well if you can hobble along so much!

I do quite well, I think. Ve-e-e-r-y slow, but wielding a crutch at least warns other people that I will not be trotting along. And a good bacon sandwich makes a fine incentive.

I think I must be doing pretty well, probably because I'm about ten years younger than most of the people I know who've had a hip replaced. Beast has already had to thank our yoga instructor for my arm strength!

sounds like a very productive outing! exercise & a bacon sandwich, plus getting your butcher's order in. too bad you couldn't secure a lunch date (and that Archers Cheese Box)

I'm getting around more and more without it now, but I did feel safer with the extra support while out for a walk.

I did very well, all things considered. Archers is such an excellent butcher's shop, so I came away with one of their Scotch eggs, some 'Louisiana chicken kebabs' and some bacon chops. Had a full bag by the time I'd done Aldi.
