I have no use for Justin icons, but I still wanted to say that # 6 is absolutely gorgeous and # 2 and 4 are hilarious!

Heh - I don't figure on using Justin much either, though he takes a pretty enough picture, I suppose. Interesting that you mention number 6 - I have a fondness for that one because I recall spending quite a while turning it from a photo into something like a pen-and-ink drawing. And then trying out lots of ways of colouring it.

Did you end up using some kind of texture? It looks like that, but I might be wrong.

Yes, it's a texture by gender set to multiply.

I find that lately I've been doing a lot more with colours, gradients and the like, and a lot less with brushes.
