pensnest: bright-eyed baby me (Dragon Challenge)

It is also, as it happens, my Adorable Niece's birthday. Happy Birthday, Adorable Niece!

So.

I've been enjoying the wonderful world of popslash for not much more than a year now, and there are many, many things of great goodness here (quite apart from all you lovely people, of course!). There are suddenly transgendered boybanders, sundry animals, wings, lava lamps, bodyswaps, pregnancies, and I know not what. But with all this abundance, there is something missing.

There are not enough DRAGONS.

With your help, I should like to remedy this deficiency. On this entirely appropriate day, I am issuing a Dragon Challenge.

Please - write a story with a dragon of some sort. It can be literal, metaphorical, figurative, or, um, something else. All I ask is that it features at least one member of *NSYNC or BSB as the main character, and that it is at least 500 words long. For the rest, it's up to you.

I should very much like to release the dragon stories into the world on D-Day, that is, 06-06-06. Nice and memorable. (It is, incidentally, also My Birthday.) Deadline will therefore be noon (BST) on June 5th.

Go on. Give it a go. I mean - DRAGONS! (Also, you know this story is going to fit one of the [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100 or [livejournal.com profile] slashfic25 prompts, don't you?)

Comment below to let me know that you're thinking of participating, and I will email you details on how to submit your story, and a reminder nearer deadline. And you'll be anonymous for, um, at least a week after your story is made available, a whim of mine. I approve of anonymous challenges.

Do pimp this notion far and wide, please. The world needs more Dragon stories.

Alone, far far ahead of the trend...

Hey, when you say not enough, have I missed any others? Betty Plotnick's Seahorse story, maybe, I seem to recall it touched on dragons too?

More is good. :) Dragons are cool. Doubt that I'm going to have both time and inspiration. If I do, I'll definintely remember this post.

There's also all the heart can know and sources of calm, both by skeabs. Im not sure if they're still officially available anywhere. Though inofficially, I might be able to help you out.

Yes, that's Sources of Calm.

is it on the web somewhere?

Hm, I don't know. I haven't found it, but you might be able to find it via the wayback machine. Or I could send it to you as well, if you want.

I do have a dragon story...but there's no way it'll get done by June. It's too long and life is too crazy. But this is one more reason to keep poking at it, so I'll keep trucking along and see what happens next.

YAY! You've posted about it!

Dragons!

It's a challenge, as if I'd say no. I'm in :)

Heeee.

I managed to resist for a while, but really, some of my best stuff has been for challenges, and I have a challenge of my own coming up soon, so I'd feel bad if I wanted people to join mine but refused to join others myself, right?

So count me in!

*g*

Aaagh! I kept wondering why I hadn't heard from you. I thought :sob: that you were shunning me and scorning my popslash. The weepage was frightful, I tell you. And I meant to come back and check, but kept not doing it, and, yes. I am the anonymous doofus. My email, which I also forgot to give you, is solafiamma(AT)gmail.com.

Am I too late?

I've been sitting on my hands trying to keep myself from joining the challenge... but *sigh* I have to give in, the temptation is making me nuttier than usual.

Okay, my 16 yr. old writer daughter is a dragon expert and I am a BSB freak, so, thanks to the lead here from [livejournal.com profile] beckyo, I'm going to tentatively say we're in??? LOL I emailed her and hopefully we can put together a cute joint effort.

We'll see how her teenaged angst is feeling today, whether she accepts or rejects old mom's idea.
