I shall have to go through and see who did what, and if there's any possibility that I ought to have been able to identify them...

My Remix story was Reindeer Games (the Like a Lightbulb remix), based on [livejournal.com profile] jae_w's original. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] chrismm for the beta work.

I was surprised, with this challenge, to find how much harder it was than I'd expected it to be. I've read plenty of remixes, after all... It was difficult to figure out where to put the story, on the spectrum of "oh, yes, I read this story... didn't I?" to "I wonder what the original story is like". I stuck pretty close to the original, really, but it is very interesting to read the wide range of choices the other authors have made.

When you're reading, or writing, a remix, what do you prefer? How different from the original do you like it to be?

I loved this story. So much fun, a great take on a great story.

I like the remixes to be different. Otherwise, I don't get a sense of how the story is something the remixer would have written, as opposed to the original story. I want to have to look at the original story for a reference point, and be surprised.

I like really far out remixes - ones that are a really big jump on one aspect, or a really subtle change that just alters everything [you twisting that chris / kevin inside out, was a joy and a treat that way]

I wish we could have changed the pairings - kept the plot or the scenario with other characters, or followed the other chain of events if one decission had been different which probably would meen either changing or loosing the pairing - although I wouldn't have done that with any of the ones I had to choose from, interestingly enough.

Part of my brain still wishes I'd done something totally mad and po-mo and used all the letters or something, and part of me's still sane and says 'no!'.
