The joys of spring
May. 28th, 2006 08:08 pmThere is a murdered shrew in my garage, complete with *trail of blood* on the lino. Augh! The joys of spring. I shrieked at the cat, who looked all Corpse? What corpse? as she stepped neatly past it on her way back outside. Pestilent animal.
I don't quite know what I've been doing this week. Nothing consequential, probably. Nagging the Boy to revise. Googling for a home karaoke machine, but we won't talk about that. I have been doing a bit of plant-nurturing, repotting stuff, planting a few hopeful and belated seeds, looking thoughtfully at the weeds, that kind of thing. Weeding is satisfying but exhausting, and it has been sadly overcast this week, cold and wet, not at all the kind of weather to tempt me into the garden. But the hardy geraniums and the aquilegias at the front look quite nice, the lilies are growing apace, and the daisies I rashly transplanted from the back garden are all set to obliterate a young lavender - anything else that was in their vicinity last year has already been engulfed. Sigh.
I forced my menfolk out of the house on Friday night to see our production of 'Stepping Out', which I at least very much enjoyed. A jolly good team of actors, lots of laughs, and they did really well with the tapping. I know at least two cast members had never done any tap dancing before. When it got to their finale number, the big "You loved them so much last year that now they're back" scene in tails and glittery waistcoats, I *wanted* them to do a fabulous job, and they did. Must have worked incredibly hard, as they only had a couple of months.
There should be more plays with a bunch of women and only one chap, for the sake of amateur drama groups everywhere.

A brief burst of writing energy struck so I have sent a Lambs story off to beta. Bah, Lambs - I want a Dragon.
In case there's anyone lurking out there who has been surreptitiously writing a Dragon fic but hasn't actually signed up for the Challenge (okay, but you never know), I need it submitted by email, if you please. A reminder, with details, has gone out to the good folk who signed up - if you haven't received it, let me know.
I received my birthday pressie early, a chic new scanner arrived within about two days of being ordered, which means I no longer have to reboot the machine in OS9 and fire up Photoshop 6, creak creak. It's not exactly romantic, but my Beast is reliable about these things. Although, hee, he spent quite some time searching for the other wireless keyboard, his own having detonated or something. Gave in and bought a new one a not-wireless keyboard, as this is rather more practical. While he was plugging it in he discovered, on top of the computer (which is tucked snugly under the desk)... a wireless keyboard. Hee.
debsfarm, do you want a scanner?
