pensnest: Scarlet gift box with gold ribbon (Christmas box)

We fetched the brats from Norwich yesterday, and were back well before it snowed last night—I don't like driving in snow, so am grateful for the weather's forbearance. This morning saw an epic trip to the supermarket, where they had run out of parsnips. *Run out of parsnips!* There will have to be a trip to nearer-supermarket in the next few days, I will not have my Christmas dinner parsnip-free. Bun seems to have volunteered for a lot of the catering duty, which is great, as she has suggested fish pie and then lasagne, and I had already volunteered both brats to make shepherd's pie for Christmas Eve. This is excellent, as it will leave me more time for reading MTYG stories.

It's snowing again, but more of a wettish, British snow than the incredibly cold, crisp stuff that has been coming down of late.

Thank you to [personal profile] digital_diva, [personal profile] chalcopyrite and [personal profile] nopseud for the cards. Christmas tentacles!

But it's the cold, crispy stuff that's really nice :-)

We have a county-wide shortage of potatoes (which we grow) right now... it's all a bit weird.

Wet, warmer snow is SO much better *fingers crossed* that he trend to less hellish weather continues.

I shall be jealous. I didn't think things through entirely before offering to spend the holiday sewing with my mother. There will be little time to get away. On top of that, she says my father is almost constantly on the internet when he's home these days, because he's hunting for another job.

(And... I think this Thanksgiving was the first time I ever saw a parsnip.)
