Oh, ffs. I thought I caught sight, from the corner of my eye, of a gigantic spider traversing the carpet. It wasn't a spider*. It was a mouse.

The cat has suddenly got with the program and is sitting guard in the corner of the room.

*On reflection, a mouse-sized spider would probably have had me moving to Norwich *right* *now*.

you know, a mouse-sized spider would have me on the moon!

I'm glad the cat is on the job - hopefully your mouse won't return

We do have big spiders in Norwich, too. Though admittedly I haven't seen any THAT big.

You should see the size of some of the spiders in our house! Fortunately I live with three guys who aren't afraid of them. I just get scornful looks and put upon sighs when I ask that the creatures be put at the *top* of the drive not merely outside the front door.

All I was able to think all morning was
Spider-Mouse, Spider-Mouse
Climbs the walls of your house

... I just needed to inflict that on someone else. *gdr*

a mouse-sized spider would probably have me moving to the MOON. Good lord.

Not that I would be any more thrilled with a mouse-sized mouse. But--egads. *shudders*

At least your cat understands his natural function. Mine usually just injures the damn things, gets bored and then toddles off somewhere. I think he has ADD.

Our older cat has EDD (Extermination Deficiency Disorder) -- she imports wildlife into the house and releases it. My theory is that she's trying to set up indoor breeding colonies of fieldmice and voles so that she won't have to go outside into the cold to hunt.

It least our new cat actually kills the things he brings in, although honestly, I think it's just because of overenthusiasm while playing with them. He hasn't yet actually worked out that mice are made out of meat, which is surprising given his general intense interest in food.

OK, EDD wins out over ADD, hands down. That's just...gah. I'm lucky, I guess, that my cats are spoiled little apartment-dwellers who never go outside.

Hm. Maybe he doesn't eat them because he considers them presents for you? I mean, isn't that what we all want, deep down - festering rodent carcasses in our newly cleaned kitchens? He's just being considerate. :)

I think I would have squealed like a little girl if a mouse-sized spider walked across the floor. Eeeek!

Hope your cat gets the mouse though! :)

Your cat is smarter than my cats. There was a mouse in my baseboard heater in the bathroom. All three cats were staring down the heater. The mouse escaped and ran out of the bathroom. The cats continued to stare at the heater. I threw all three cats out in the hall and shut the door. Opened the door 10 min later, and all three cats ran back into the bathroom to stare at the heater.

I hate mice in the house D:

Thankfully, when we had ours Pansy showed she's an excellent mouser.

She also seems to like eating any intruders. Yesterday Milo was playing with a huge spider. Pansy came along and ate it.

Nooshie stares at the spiders until I can come kill them. I keep trying to explain that it's her job to eat them. But I think she objects to killing because dead spiders aren't as fun to look at. >_<

My parents' dogs eat mice. I'd loan them out if I could. But I must also warn that they also bark their fool heads off over things like a single stray plastic grocery bag that the wind brought into the yard.

AHAHAHAH I was going to say, okay, I have been to Britain and I have seen some big ass British house spiders, but if I ever mistook one for a mouse, I would fucking RUN.
